Leaf‐Inspired Eutectic Skin With Extreme Fatigue Resistance and Robust Wet Adhesion for Amphibious Epidermal Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by Acorus calamus leaves, a heterogeneous eutectic skin integrates an aligned fibrous network within a hydrophobic eutectogel matrix. This hierarchical architecture triggers strain‐induced crystallization to achieve exceptional mechanical toughness and durable wet adhesion.

Relation of tangential force and pitting limit at rolling-sliding contact surface under mixed lubrication condition

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2015
Design for pitting (surface crack initiated rolling fatigue wear) at rolling-sliding contact surface under mixed lubrication condition is based on the combination of maximum contact pressure (Hertzian stress) and lubrication condition (ratio of surface ...

Evaluation of dark etching regions for standard bearing steel under accelerated rolling contact fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Subsurface microstructural alterations are formed in the later stages of rolling contact fatigue (RCF) under high contact pressure. The subsurface changes observed as a dark contrast under optical microscopy are classified as Dark Etching Regions (DERs).

Ultrathin Li Metal Anodes: Quantitative Design Principles and Manufacturability Across Liquid and Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin lithium metal anodes (≤15 µm) offer a promising route to high‐energy‐density batteries due to their high capacity and low potential. This review presents design principles for ultrathin Li, evaluates fabrication strategies, and discusses challenges in liquid and solid‐state cells.

A 3D finite element model of rolling contact fatigue for evolved material response and residual stress estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Rolling bearing elements develop structural changes during rolling contact fatigue (RCF) along with the non-proportional stress histories, evolved residual stresses and extensive work hardening. Considerable work has been reported in the past few decades
