Resistance to Rolling and Sliding
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1958Abstract In general a single “coefficient of friction” is inadequate to define the fractional resistance between contacting bodies. It is necessary to know both the inclination of the resultant force line and the offset of this line from the theoretical point of contact.

Roll-to-roll printed resistive WORM memory on a flexible substrate
Nanotechnology, 2012The fabrication process and the operation characteristics of a fully roll-to-roll printed resistive write-once-read-many memory on a flexible substrate are presented. The low-voltage (

About The Rolling Resistance Trailer And Parameters Influencing Rolling Resistance
2014The issue of global warming by an excessive amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere is a hot topic and the consequences for man and environment become more and more clear. Road transportation plays a significant role in CO2 emission and unlike other sectors, its emission has even increased the last years. To stop this trend, different measures

Air friction and rolling resistance during cycling
Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, 1995To calculate the power output during actual cycling, the air friction force Fa and rolling resistance Fr have to be known. Instead of wind tunnel experiments or towing experiments at steady speed, in this study these friction forces were measured by coasting down experiments.

Contact resistance between roll and titanium sheet during cold rolling
CIRP Annals, 2019Abstract In metal forming processes, electrical contact resistance between the workpiece and a tool could give useful information on the contact state of the two surfaces. However, measurement during rolling is difficult because rolls rotate at high speed. In this study, two titanium sheets were cold-rolled in parallel.

Lower rolling resistance through organosilane
ATZ worldwide, 2008One out of every five tanks of fuel is used simply to overcome the rolling resistance of the tyres. This has also been confirmed by specialists at Michelin. Now, engineers at the French tyre company have developed a new “green tyre”, the Energy Saver, which has a low rolling resistance that reduces fuel consumption and therefore cuts emissions ...

A Study on Minimum Rolling Resistance
Tire Science And Technology, 2012ABSTRACT: Tire rolling resistance has been a topic of study since the invention of the pneumatic tire. There is currently a heightened interest in this topic because of the need to minimize fuel consumption of vehicles and the introduction of regulations regarding both the maximum allowable rolling resistance and consumer labeling for rolling ...

In this study, a rolling contact model is proposed for quantifying the part of rolling resistance originating from hysteretic energy dissipation at the interface between a viscoelastic solid and a rigid surface. A viscoelastic half-space assumption is made and a 3D time dependent algorithm is used to solve the problem.
