Visual and Visual‐Inertial SLAM Based on Enhanced Deep Learning Features and Motion Smoothness Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
A visual and visual‐inertial simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) algorithm, leveraging enhanced deep learning features and motion smoothness constraints, is proposed in this research work. This method retains the advantages of geometry‐based SLAM methods while effectively utilizing the powerful representational capabilities of data‐driven ...

Optimizing Strategies for Non‐Invasive Prospection of Settlements in the Intertidal Zone: A Case Study From the Centre of the Drowned Medieval Village of Tolsende (Scheldt Estuary, the Netherlands)

open access: yesArchaeological Prospection, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Medieval and early modern drowned villages in the intertidal zone of the Scheldt estuary (the Netherlands) constitute intriguing yet largely understudied components of north‐western Europe's underwater cultural heritage. Despite their high archaeological potential as time capsules of past settlement landscapes, research has remained limited ...

Shuffled rolling shutter for snapshot temporal imaging

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
We propose a modification to the rolling shutter mechanism found in CMOS detectors by shuffling the pixels in every scanline. This potential hardware modification improves the sampling of the space-time datacube, allowing the recovery of high-speed videos from a single image using either tensor completion methods or reconstruction algorithms often used

The Role of Objective Financial Situation and Psychological Outlook in the Relationship Between Personal Life Shocks and Financial Well‐Being

open access: yesJournal of Consumer Behaviour, Volume 24, Issue 2, Page 632-654, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Existing research examines the relationship between personal life shocks and financial well‐being primarily through the lens of objective markers of the individual's financial situation (e.g., liquidity). Little attention has been paid to the relative roles of these objective markers and more intuitive or affect‐based factors in how an ...

In Vivo Cytoskeletal AMPA Receptor Transport Imaging in C. elegans

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Long‐distance intracellular transport of ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs) is essential for proper excitatory synaptic function underlying learning and memory. Many neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative conditions have abnormal iGluR transport and trafficking, leading to an intense interest in the mechanisms and factors regulating these

Visible Light Communication Using Receivers of Camera Image Sensor and Solar Cell

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2016
We propose an electronic label and sensor system using visible light communication (VLC). The downlink signal is transmitted by a white-light light-emitting diode (LED) lamp that can provide lighting, VLC, and energy harvesting for mobile devices.

A Thorough Investigation Into the ENF Reconstruction in Videos Exposed by Rolling Shutter

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2023
In electric network frequency (ENF)-based video forensics, the analysis of videos captured by rolling shutter systems, where each row of a frame is exposed at different time instances, is critical. To gain the advantage of increased sampling frequency in

The impact of forced closure on proppant distribution of hydraulic fracturing in shale formations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Research findings demonstrate that implementing forced closure within shale formations can remarkably mitigate proppant settlement, concurrently increasing the effective propped surface area from 29.74% to 38.68%. Abstract Forced closure is widely used in conventional oil and gas reservoirs to promote uniform proppant placement.

RRD-SLAM: Radial-distorted rolling-shutter direct SLAM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we present a monocular direct semi-dense SLAM (Simultaneous Localization And Mapping) method that can handle both radial distortion and rolling-shutter distortion.
