Successful use of haemoperfusion therapy in an adult horse with hepatic encephalopathy and cholangiohepatitis

Summary A 4‐year‐old, 520 kg, American Quarter Horse broodmare, approximately 90 days in foal, was presented to Texas A&M University Teaching Hospital for suspected liver disease. Based on clinicopathological values and hepatic abnormalities noted ultrasonographically, the mare was presumptively diagnosed with cholangiohepatitis.

Phosphorus as a promoter of a nickel catalyst to obtain 1-phenylethanol from chemoselective hydrogenation of acetophenone

Two catalysts were prepared using monodisperse pre-synthetized nanoparticles of metallic nickel and nickel phosphides with the same average diameter. Both nanoparticles species were deposited on the same support: mesoporous silica nano-spheres of MCM-41.

Empagliflozin and renal histological changes in an experimental model of heart failure in male rats

In a non‐diabetic rat model of heart failure, empagliflozin preserved renal structure by attenuating renal changes associated with congestion and tubular atrophy, while modulating inflammatory cell infiltration, characterized by increased CD206‐positive macrophages and reduced CD3‐positive T cells.

É o Ronco Secundário a uma Miopatia Focal?

Embora o ronco seja um distúrbio comum, sua fisiopatologia não é apropriadamente entendida. Ele poderia ser secundário ao comprometimento do controle neurológico-anatômico, ao comprometimento das vias aéreas superiores ou ambos. São apresentadas considerações segundo as quais o ronco pode estar relacionado às alterações musculares focais.
