Temperature management in the delivery room

Seminars in Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, 2008
After being in a relatively stable thermoneutral uterus for the whole of pregnancy, the newborn baby enters a cooling environment and might suffer significant heat loss and hypothermia in the first minutes of life. Alternatively, the fetus might face significant hyperthermia during and immediately after delivery if the mother is febrile.

Corneal Storage at Room Temperature

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1978
Short-term eye banking is based mainly on moist chamber and McCarey-Kaufman medium (M-K medium) preservation. Both involve a controlled 4 C temperature for storage. Warming the cornea to room temperature, however, drastically affects the endothelial viability.

Room-Temperature Ferromagnetism of Graphene

Nano Letters, 2009
Aiming at molecular-based magnets, ferromagnetism of pure carbon-based materials is fundamentally and technologically extremely important for many applications. While it is still not fully understood, many recent theoretical works have suggested that one-atom-thick two-dimensional graphene materials may show ferromagnetism due to the existence of ...

A room temperature quantum memory

2011 International Quantum Electronics Conference (IQEC) and Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO) Pacific Rim incorporating the Australasian Conference on Optics, Lasers and Spectroscopy and the Australian Conference on Optical Fibre Technology, 2011
We present experimental results of high efficiency quantum state storage in a warm rubidium vapour cell using the gradient echo memory (GEM) technique. Without conditional measurements, we show recall fidelity up to 98% for coherent pulses containing around one photon.

DETECTION OF BACTERIURIA AT ROOM-TEMPERATURE

The Lancet, 1970
Abstract The Uricult ' dip-slide system of bacterial culture has been tested and found reliable and effective, not only on incubation, but also at room-temperature. Compared with pour-plate controls at 37 C, almost identical results were obtained from 140 consecutive specimens at 37°C and 15-18°C.

Kaolinite: Synthesis at Room Temperature

Science, 1971
To obtain kaolinite at low temperature and pressure from the system Si(OH) 4 -Al 3+ -H 2 O, the sixfold coordination of aluminum is a necessary prerequisite. Kaolinite was synthesized at p H values from 2 to 9 and with a ratio of SiO

Quasisolitons on a diatomic chain at room temperature

Physical Review B, 1993
We have studied analytically and numerically a nonlinear diatomic lattice with a cubic nearestneigbbor interaction potential. Our system is a one-dimensional chain of pairs of atoms interacting through a «hard» interaction, each pair being bound to the neighboring pairs by a «soft» interaction.

Synthesis of Zeolite Nanocrystals at Room Temperature

Langmuir, 2005
Zeolite A nanoparticles were synthesized under room-temperature conditions from a very reactive organic-template-free gel system. The optimization of the syntheses parameters, namely, the composition of the initial system and the careful choice of the reactants, allowed the crystallization to be accomplished within 3 days.
