Facile and controllable chemical doping of conducting polymers with an ionic liquid dopant

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
A facile method for chemical doping of conducting polymers is demonstrated with an ionic liquid containing FeCl _4 ^− anions as the oxidizing agents. A drop of the ionic liquid on the film of a typical semicrystalline polymer immediately changed the room

Knoevenagel Reaction in [MMIm][MSO4]: Synthesis of Coumarins

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
The ionic liquid 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methyl sulfate, [MMIm][MSO4], together with a small amount of water (the amount taken up by the ionic liquid upon exposure to air), acts efficiently as both solvent and catalyst of the Knoevenagel condensation ...

The crystal structure of the Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase BBE22 resolves a long‐standing annotation error

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The crystal structure of Borrelia burgdorferi nicotinamidase (PncA/BBE22) reveals the correct full‐length protein initiated from a non‐canonical AUU start codon. The structure validates previous biochemical findings and resolves a long‐standing annotation error, demonstrating that the truncated database sequence is structurally incompatible with the ...

Characterising room temperature ionic liquids with acoustic wave devices

open access: yes, 2010
Data for the physical properties of Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTILs) as a function of chemical composition is limited due to the expense and difficulty of producing large volumes of pure samples for characterization.

Electrochemical determination of tryptophan at room-temperature ionic liquid-titanium carbide nanoparticle gel modified electrode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The novel gel composite, based on the ground of ionic liquid (1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate, BMIMPF6) and titanium carbide (TiC) nanoparticles, was used to modify glassy carbon electrode and applied to the electrochemical determination ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Improvement of Carbon Paste Ion Selective Electrode Response by Using Room Temperature Ionic Liquids (RTILs) and Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (MWCNTs)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2009
In this work by using room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), response of a cerium carbon paste potentiometric sensor was modified.

UV polymerization of room temperature ionic liquids for high temperature PEMs: Study of ionic moieties and crosslinking effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The conductivity performance of commercial available room-temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) has been evaluated from room conditions up to 200oC as a function of relative humidity for their potential application in high temperature PEMs.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.
