A piecewise version of the Root-MUSIC algorithm to find the directions of multiple narrowband plane waves arriving at an antenna array is presented. The problem of choosing low-SNR signal roots from extra roots in Root-MUSIC is addressed by dividing the unit circle into several sectors.

An improved root-MUSIC algorithm and MSE analysis
2016 International Conference on Computer, Information and Telecommunication Systems (CITS), 2016Root-MUSIC algorithm is a method of DOA estimation based on polynomial rooting. It estimated based on the cost function instead of peak searching, which greatly reduces the computation compared with MUSIC algorithm. However, it came with some other errors.

Iterative root-MUSIC algorithm for DOA estimation
2013 5th IEEE International Workshop on Computational Advances in Multi-Sensor Adaptive Processing (CAMSAP), 2013This paper introduces a new high-resolution subspace-based algorithm for direction-of-arrival estimation. The proposed method improves the quality of the estimation especially in the case of small sample size by considering the structure of the sample covariance matrix. The key idea is to identify undesirable terms in the sample covariance matrix which

A root-MUSIC algorithm for non circular sources
2001 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37221), 2002We present in this paper a new direction finding algorithm for non circular sources that is based on polynomial rooting. Due to the non circularity characteristics of the impinging sources, the proposed method is able to handle more sources than sensors.

Deep Root Music Algorithm for Data-Driven Doa Estimation
ICASSP 2023 - 2023 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2023Direction of arrival (DoA) estimation is a fundamental task in array processing. A popular family of DoA estimation algorithms are subspace methods, which operate by dividing the measurements into distinct signal and noise subspaces. Subspace methods, such as Root-MUSIC, require the sources to be non-coherent, and are considerably degraded when this ...

Beamspace Root-MUSIC for minimum redundancy linear arrays
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1993Beamspace Root-MUSIC, a computationally efficient beamspace implementation of Root-MUSIC developed recently for use in conjunction with a uniformly spaced linear array (ULA), is discussed. Computationally efficient methods for using beamspace Root-MUSIC in conjunction with a minimum redundancy linear array (MRLA) for both the narrowband and wideband ...

Distributed Root-MUSIC Using Finite-Time Average Consensus
2021 55th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers, 2021Distributed (decentralized) algorithms for principal component analysis of covariance matrices are well-known, and their applications in array signal processing have received more interest recently. Inspired by this, a new distributed algorithm for the popular DOA estimation method, root-MUSIC, is proposed. The average consensus method is used to avoid

Extension of root-MUSIC to non-ULA Array Configurations
2006 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speed and Signal Processing Proceedings, 2006In this paper we introduce a method for modelling the steering vector of an arbitrary array such that its steering vector can be expressed as the product of a characteristic matrix of the array itself and a vector with a Vandermonde structure containing the unknown parameter. We call this technique manifold separation.

Estimate the frequency of harmonic using the root-MUSIC algorithm
2017 10th International Congress on Image and Signal Processing, BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (CISP-BMEI), 2017Estimating the frequency of harmonics with multiplicative and additive noise is encountered generally in many sciences and engineering applications. To conquer the Rayleigh resolution limit of the cyclic statistics method and improve the frequency resolution, this paper presents a new root-MUSIC based method for the frequency estimation of harmonics ...

UCA Root-MUSIC With Sparse Uniform Circular Arrays
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2008Several algorithms for direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation with uniform circular arrays rely on the beamspace transform as it allows computationally efficient estimation of the angles-of-arrival. The performance of such estimators is degraded if the array has a small number of elements.
