Majorana Braiding with Thermal Noise [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2015
We investigate the self-correcting properties of a network of Majorana wires, in the form of a trijunction, in contact with a parity-preserving thermal environment. As opposed to the case where Majorana bound states (MBSs) are immobile, braiding MBSs within a trijunction introduces dangerous error processes that we identify.

Thermal noise-driven resonant sensors [PDF]

open access: yesMicrosyst Nanoeng
AbstractMEMS/NEMS resonant sensors hold promise for minute mass and force sensing. However, one major challenge is that conventional externally driven sensors inevitably encounter undesired intrinsic noise, which imposes a fundamental limitation upon their signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and, consequently, the resolution.

Thermodynamic and feasibility analysis of air conditioning waste heat recovery via power generation cycles

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2020
Waste heat from Air Conditioning (AC) systems has long been neglected as a heat source for power generation. With the increasing AC demand worldwide, relevant technology development are urgently required.

Noise-assisted variational quantum thermalization

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
AbstractPreparing thermal states on a quantum computer can have a variety of applications, from simulating many-body quantum systems to training machine learning models. Variational circuits have been proposed for this task on near-term quantum computers, but several challenges remain, such as finding a scalable cost-function, avoiding the need of ...

Joint Effect of Heterogeneous Intrinsic Noise Sources on Instability of MEMS Resonators [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics, 2015
This article's focus is on the numerical estimation of the overall instability of microelectromechanical-system-based (MEMS) resonators, caused by intrinsic noise mechanisms that are different in nature (electrical, mechanical or chemical). Heterogeneous
