Advantages of nonuniform arrays using root-MUSIC [PDF]

open access: yesSignal Processing, 2010
In this paper, we consider the Direction-Of-Arrival (DOA) estimation problem in the Nonuniform Linear Arrays (NLA) case, particularly the arrays with missing sensors. We show that the root-MUSIC algorithm can be directly applied to this case and that it can fully exploit the advantages of using an NLA instead of a Uniform Linear Array (ULA).

Approximate maximum likelihood estimation of two closely spaced sources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The performance of the majority of high resolution algorithms designed for either spectral analysis or Direction-of-Arrival (DoA) estimation drastically degrade when the amplitude sources are highly correlated or when the number of available snapshots is

An IDFT-based root-MUSIC for arbitrary arrays [PDF]

open access: yes2010 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2010
Root-MUSIC algorithm, designed for uniform linear arrays, has been extended to arrays of arbitrary geometry by means of manifold separation techniques but at the cost of increased computational complexity. In this paper, an inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT)-based method is proposed in which polynomial rooting is avoided.

FRIDA: FRI-Based DOA Estimation for Arbitrary Array Layouts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper we present FRIDA---an algorithm for estimating directions of arrival of multiple wideband sound sources. FRIDA combines multi-band information coherently and achieves state-of-the-art resolution at extremely low signal-to-noise ratios.

A Real-Valued Polynomial Rooting Method for Fast Direction of Arrival Estimation With Large Uniform Linear Arrays

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
When used for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation with large uniform linear arrays (ULAs), both root-MUSIC and unitary root-MUSIC (U-root-MUSIC) involve high-dimension eigenvalue decomposition (EVD) and high-degree polynomial rooting computations.
