Newer root canal irrigants-A review
Research Journal of Pharmacy and Technology, 2016The main goal of the root canal treatment is to completely eliminate the different components of the pulpal tissue, calcification and bacteria, and to prevent infection or re-infection . Irrigants perform both biological and physical roles during endodontic treatments.

Tetracycline HCl Solution as a Root Canal Irrigant
Journal of Endodontics, 2001The effect of tetracycline hydrochloride as an endodontic irrigant on smear layer removal was examined by scanning electron microscopy and compared with bidistilled water, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), and 50% citric acid in 20 extracted teeth. Five teeth, as a control, were irrigated with bidistilled water only in group 1.

Hundreds of bacterial species inhabit the mouth, because of bacterial interactions, nutrient availability and low oxygen potentials in root canals with necrotic pulp, the number of bacterial species present in endodontic infections are restricted. These selective conditions lead to the predominance of facultive and strictly anaerobic microorganisms ...

Mechanical effectiveness of root canal irrigation
Journal of Endodontics, 1983An in vitro study of the mechanical effectiveness of conventional root canal irrigation using hypodermic needle and syringe was carried out using an artificial system of standardized root canals and particles. The influence of needle size, the depth of insertion of the needle, and the pressure of irrigation on the effectiveness of irrigating the apical

The antimicrobial effects of root canal irrigation and medication
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2007The role of microorganisms in the development and maintenance of pulpal and periapical inflammation have been well documented. The success of root canal treatment largely depends on the elimination of microbial contamination from the root canal system.

Root canal irrigation with citric acid solution
Journal of Endodontics, 1996The purpose of this study was to investigate various properties of citric acid and EDTA solution as decalcifying and cleansing agents in root canal irrigation, and antibacterial effects of citric acid and EDTA solution. Powdered dentin-resin mixtures were used for evaluating the decalcifying effect of citric acid and EDTA solution.

Biofilm disruption by root canal irrigants and potential irrigants
International Endodontic Journal, 2008Aim To investigate the disruption and bactericidal effect of root canal irrigants on single and dual‐species biofilms.Methodology Single‐species (Streptococcus sanguis, Enterococcus faecalis, Fusobacterium nucleatum, Porphymonas gingivalis) and dual‐species (S. sanguis and F. nucleatum) biofilms were grown on nitro‐cellulose membranes and immersed in
