Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

RATIONALE MAPPING AND FUNCTIONAL MODELLING ENHANCED ROOT CAUSE ANALYSIS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective: The process of understanding the causes of adverse events associated with complex engineered systems can be time consuming and expensive. It often requires substantial human and physical resources ranging from a few engineers up to multiple ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Integrating product lifecycle management systems with maintenance information across the supply chain for root cause analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to develop a system architecture for integrating PLM systems with maintenance information to support root cause analysis by allowing engineers to visualise cross supply chain data in a single environment.

A root-cause analysis of mortality following major pancreatectomy

open access: yes, 2012
Although mortality rates from pancreatectomy have decreased worldwide, death remains an infrequent but profound event at an individual practice level. Root-cause analysis is a retrospective method commonly employed to understand adverse events.

LLM-Augmented Knowledge Base Construction for Root Cause Analysis

open access: yesIEEE Access
Communications networks now form the backbone of our digital world, with fast and reliable connectivity. However, even with appropriate redundancy and failover mechanisms, it is difficult to guarantee “five 9s” (99.999%) reliability ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Root cause analysis in the NHS: time for change?

open access: yes, 2020
Root cause analyses were intended to search for system vulnerabilities rather than individual errors, using a human factors engineering approach. In practice, root cause analyses done in the NHS may generally fail to identify components where there are ...
