Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Specific root length (SRL) and root tissue density (RTD) are ecologically functional traits which are calculated from root length or volume and root dry weight. Both can be converted into each other using the root diameter assuming roots are cylindrical.

The Diameter of Primary Roots and the Lateral Root Formation in Corn Plants
The changes of the diameter of the primary roots along their axes were investigated in corn plants in relation to the diameter and the density of lateral roots. The primary roots of the basal "shoot units", are formed earlier and those of the upper "shoot units" are formed successively later in the growth of the plant.

Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Soil drying may induce a number of stresses on crops. This paper investigated maize (Zea mays L.) root growth as affected by drought and soil penetration resistance (PR), which was caused by soil drying and tillage in a clayey red soil.

The Right-Skewed Distribution of Fine-Root Size in Three Temperate Forests in Northeastern China
Trees can build fine-root systems with high variation in root size (e.g., fine-root diameter) and root number (e.g., branching pattern) to optimize belowground resource acquisition in forest ecosystems.

Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Accuracy of echocardiography for assessing aortic root diameter. [PDF]
The normal range for aortic root diameters employing the echocardiographic continuous recording technique was determined in 159 adult subjects without aortic valve disease or hypertension. In order to evaluate the accuracy of this noninvasive technique, the aortic root diameters as measured by ultrasound before operation in 31 patients with aortic ...

Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Locally coexisting tree species of temperate forests often vary widely in the diameter of their absorptive roots, resulting in contrasting strategies of root foraging within soil nutrient hot spots. We hypothesized that root diameter would also influence
