Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Some factors influencing the sudden death syndrome in cut flower plants : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Horticultural Science at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Soil/root mixes from plants with the Sudden Collapse Syndrome of cut flower plants were tested for Phytophthora infection using a lupin (Lupinus angustifolius) baiting technique.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Aortic Valve Infective Endocarditis with Root Abscess: Root Repair Versus Root Replacement

open access: yesPathogens
Background: Aortic valve infective endocarditis (IE) complicated by an aortic root abscess is a challenging problem that leads to increased morbidity and mortality. Aortic root repair or replacement are two potential treatment options.

Relationships between landscape context and coffee rust (Hemileia vastatrix), coffee berry borer (Hypothenemus hampei) and the rootknot nematodes Meloidogyne spp. En Costa Rica [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Disease and pest attack intensities are mainly determined at the plot level through interactions between the host, noxious organism, environment and agricultural management (Zadoks and Schein, 1979).

Cis‐regulatory and long noncoding RNA alterations in breast cancer – current insights, biomarker utility, and the critical need for functional validation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The noncoding region of the genome plays a key role in regulating gene expression, and mutations within these regions are capable of altering it. Researchers have identified multiple functional noncoding mutations associated with increased cancer risk in the genome of breast cancer patients.
