Surgical management of three diseases of the aortic root has improved considerably in the last 10 years. Results and prognosis are excellent following complete open heart repair of a fistula of a sinus of Valsalva. In supravalvular aortic stenosis surgical mortality is negligible when obstruction is localized.

Aortic Root Replacement in Behçet Disease
Asian Cardiovascular and Thoracic Annals, 2007The patient presented with a history of recurrent aphthous stomatitis, genital ulceration, and a family history of positive for collagen disease. Echocardiography and retrograde aortography revealed aneurysm formation of the sinus of Valsalva, and dilatation of the aortic valve annulus with severe aortic regurgitation.

The Hypermineralization of Diseased Root Surfaces,
Journal of Periodontology, 1979Root surfaces which have lost their attachment due to chronic inflammatory periodontal disease present significant increases in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and fluoride. The clinical significance of this effect is not known in regards to wound healing, but it may be helpful in control of cervical sensitivity.

Biologic Preparation of Diseased Root Surfaces,
Journal of Periodontology, 1980Untreated periodontally‐involved teeth contain cementum‐bound endotoxin, that may prevent periodontal new attachment during healing after pocket therapy. The purpose of this study was to restore biocompatibiltty to diseased root surfaces by a non‐invasive treatment.

Aortic root disease in four horses
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 2001Clinical findings in 4 horses with aortic root disease are described. Three of the horses had aneurysms of the right aortic sinus, and in 2 of the 3, the aneurysm ruptured, creating a fistula between the aorta and right ventricle. One of these horses had had a murmur since birth, and the aortic sinus aneurysm may have been a congenital anomaly.

ROOT disease in coniferous trees, other than those which are small seedlings, has mainly been associated with the fungi Armillaria mellea (Fr.) Quel. and Fomes annosus (Fr.) Cooke. Field observations over many years have led one to believe that frequently some of the more important factors which predispose to infection and indeed are themselves often ...

Root Disease Impacts on Root-Rhizosphere Microbial Communities
2020New molecular sequencing technologies have enabled the microbiome associated with plant roots to be studied in greater detail, generally by extracting and sequencing DNA from the whole root or rhizosphere. Roots have multiple niches which are known to vary in their exudation profiles and resultant microbial populations, but this does not appear to be ...

Spinal roots in Werdnig-Hoffmann disease
Acta Neuropathologica, 1978The spinal nerve roots were studied in two siblings with Werdnig-Hoffmann disease (WHD). An invasion by fibrous astrocytes was consistently seen along the atrophic ventral roots, more extensively in the older sibling. The parallel glial processes extended in discrete bundles and were always enclosed by a basal lamina.

Stentless Bioprostheses in Aortic Root Disease
Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 2001The availability of aortic homografts is steadily decreasing. In the meantime, stentless xenografts convey similar flow characteristics, and tissue preservation methods are improving durability. Initially, these valves were contraindicated in aortic roots with discrepancy between annulus and sinotubular junction or with extensive calcification or ...
