The Square Root Velocity Framework for Curves in a Homogeneous Space

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper we study the shape space of curves with values in a homogeneous space $M = G/K$, where $G$ is a Lie group and $K$ is a compact Lie subgroup.

Spaces of polynomials without 3-fold real roots

open access: yesKyoto Journal of Mathematics, 2002
Let \(P_n^d(\mathbb{R})\) denote the space of all monic real coefficient polynomials of degree \(d\) that have no real roots of multiplicity \(\geq n\). The authors study the homotopy type of this space for \(n=3\). The loop space \(\Omega S^{n-1}\) has, up to homotopy, a natural CW complex structure whose \(k(n-2)\)-skeleton is called the James \(k ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Topological data analysis expands the genotype to phenotype map for 3D maize root system architecture

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
A central goal of biology is to understand how genetic variation produces phenotypic variation, which has been described as a genotype to phenotype (G to P) map. The plant form is continuously shaped by intrinsic developmental and extrinsic environmental

The Economics Spectrum Drives Root Trait Strategies in Mediterranean Vegetation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Extensive research efforts are devoted to understand fine root trait variation and to confirm the existence of a belowground root economics spectrum (RES) from acquisitive to conservative root strategies that is analogous to the leaf economics spectrum ...

Analytic Bethe Ansatz and Baxter equations for long-range psl(2|2) spin chain

open access: yes, 2007
We study the largest particle-number-preserving sector of the dilatation operator in maximally supersymmetric gauge theory. After exploring one-loop Bethe Ansatze for the underlying spin chain with psl(2|2) symmetry for simple root systems related to ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
