Subsoiling practices change root distribution and increase post-anthesis dry matter accumulation and yield in summer maize. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Subsoiling is an important management practice for improving maize yield, especially for maize planted at high plant density. However, the affected physiological processes have yet to be specifically identified.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

EFFECT OF RIDGES WIDTH AND PLANT DENSITY OF ONION ON YIELD OF INTERCROPPED SUGAR BEET AND ONION [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Plant Production, 2006
Two field experiments were conducted at Mallawi Agric.Res.Station during two successive seasons of 200212003 and 2003i'2004 to study the effect of ridges width (60 and 120 cm) different planting densities of onion (33 and 66%) on the root and bulb ...

Pullout Repair of the Medial Meniscus Posterior Root Tear Reduces Proton Density-Weighted Imaging Signal Intensity of the Medial Meniscus.

open access: yesActa medica Okayama, 2018
Medial meniscus (MM) posterior root tear (PRT) results in joint overloading and degenerative changes in the knee. MM root repair is recommended to prevent subsequent cartilage degeneration following MMPRT. Favorable clinical outcomes have been reported after transtibial pullout repair of MMPRT.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Asparagus (Asparagus officinalis L.) Root Distribution: Cultivar Differences in Mature Plantings

open access: yesHorticulturae, 2023
Annual plant growth patterns and seasonal conditions have both been shown to influence asparagus (Asparagus officinalis L.) root development over time.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The Growth of Two Cultivars Mung Bean under different Sweet Corn Shelter Density in Sandy Soil Coastal Area

open access: yesIlmu Pertanian (Agricultural Science), 2018
The experiment had been conducted from August to November 2016 at Samas sandy soil coastal area. The research aimed to determine growth response of mung bean sheltered by various density of sweet corn on coastal sandy soil. The experiment used the nested

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
