Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

Net changes of soil C stocks in two grassland soils 26 months after simulated pasture renovation including biochar addition

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, 2016
The use of deep‐rooting pasture species as a management practice can increase the allocation of plant carbon (C) below ground and enhance C storage. A 2‐year lysimeter trial was set up to compare changes in C stocks of soils under either deep‐ or shallow‐

Electrode and Microstructure Dependence of Oxygen Diffusion in Ferroelectric Hafnium Zirconium Oxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Significant nanoscale oxygen diffusion coefficient variations are measured in ferroelectric hafnium zirconium oxide films with grain boundaries and electrode interfaces exhibiting values 104 times larger than the grain cores. Overall coefficients are 10X larger for films prepared with metal nitride electrodes compared to refractory metals. New insights

Optical Signature of Moiré Superlattices Formed by Twisted SrTiO3 Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We discover optical signatures from bonded interfaces in twisted SrTiO3 moiré superlattices, including low‐frequency Raman vibrational modes and strong second‐harmonic generation, consistent with strong interlayer coupling inferred from cross‐sectional electron microscopy and ab initio calculations. ABSTRACT Moiré superlattices formed at the interfaces

Charge Generation and Recombination Pathways in All‐Polymer Bulk Heterojunction Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multimodal spectroscopy and device analysis reveal how field‐dependent charge generation, transport limitations, and non‐geminate recombination govern performance losses in all polymer solar cells. The results identify the key processes controlling charge extraction and recombination, providing insights for the design of more efficient all‐polymer ...

Interface‐Defect Synergy Engineering of Amorphous Ga2O3 for Voltage‐Tunable Dual‐Mode Optoelectronic Devices: Self‐Powered Imaging and Neuromorphic Vision

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An interface‐defect co‐engineered strategy enables bias‐programmable integration of self‐powered photodetection and low‐power synaptic functionalities within a single‐material amorphous Ga2O3 device. This design achieves reversible switching via voltage modulation, supporting high‐contrast imaging and visual memory, and demonstrates a neuromorphic ...

Dopant Distribution in Ga‐Implanted CdO—A Correlative Microscopy and Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that ion implantation offset angle could modulate carrier concentration and mobility in cadmium oxide thin films. Combining correlative microscopy workflow and molecular dynamics simulations, this study reveals the control of interfacial cluster density with tailoring implantation angles, and the optimum offset angle that ...

Intrinsic Interfacial Energy Alignment Enables ETL‐Free Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular orientation of the small‐molecule donor BTR‐Cl induces a vacuum‐level shift that pins the Fermi level at ∼4.4 eV at the active layer/Ag interface, enabling Ohmic contact formation without an electron transport layer. This strategy is extended to ternary PM6:Y6:BTR‐Cl devices, achieving an ETL‐free efficiency of 18.6% with enhanced operational

Heterogeneity in vegetation recovery rates post-flash droughts across different ecosystems

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Flash droughts, as sub-seasonal phenomena, are characterized by their rapid onset and significant impact on terrestrial ecosystems. However, understanding how vegetation responds to flash droughts and the mechanisms governing vegetation recovery remains ...

Water uptake depth does not explain drought exposure or response in rainfed Mediterranean grapevines: An isotope-based study

open access: yesOENO One
The ample diversity in grapevine genotypes and their contrasting physiological responses to drought can be used by winegrowers to adapt to the increasingly drier conditions imposed by climate change.
