A Review on Rotary-Linear Motors for Biopsies
2020 2nd International Conference on Innovative Mechanisms for Industry Applications (ICIMIA), 2020Modern medical science uses the latest technologies to produce feasible solutions. The exploration treats various diseases that can result in morbidity. One such disease is Cancer; it is characterized by the uncontrolled division of abnormal cells. A biopsy is performed for the diagnosis of cancer. Earlier, biopsies were performed on the tumor cells by

Prototyping of a Rotary/Linear Ultrasonic Motor
2005 IEEE Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation, 2006The object of this research is to design and prototype a linear/rotary ultrasonic motor based upon multi-mode resonance behaviors for a piezoelectrically excited driver structure system. The whole ultrasonic motor system includes a pair of piezoactuator-equipped driver rods, a linear/rotary driven shaft, and a set of high-voltage power stages for ...

On a rotary-linear switched reluctance motor
International Symposium on Power Electronics Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion, 2012In the paper a switched reluctance rotary-linear motor is proposed and investigated. It is mechanically robust, simple to construct and easy to operate also in hostile industrial and automotive environment. The stator is built up modularly from correctly shifted three usual 8 poles switched reluctance motor stators.

Double-Winding Rotary-Linear Induction Motor
IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1987A rotary-linear induction motor whose stator possesses two windings generating the rotating and travelling fields is described. A theoretical analysis of the magnetic field and motor performance takes into account finite stator length effects. Computational results are partially verified by experimental measurements of the motor's model.

On the control of a rotary-linear switched reluctance motor
2011 5th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Intelligent Informatics (ISCIII), 2011In several advanced industrial applications both rotary and linear movements are required. But in many cases, mainly due to space limitations it is difficult to use two motors to ensure the two types of motion. For such applications the rotary-linear motors are ideal solutions.

Micro rotary-linear ultrasonic motor for endovascular diagnosis and surgery
2008 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2008We present a micro ultrasonic motor having rotary and linear motions (rotary-linear motor) suitable for endovascular diagnosis and surgery. The rotary-linear motor is miniaturized to the size needed to function in a blood vessel. The stator prototype is a cube of side 3.5 mm, and the main body is fabricated as a single metallic cube with a through-hole.

A rotary-linear switched reluctance motor for automotive applications
2012 XXth International Conference on Electrical Machines, 2012In the paper a rotary-linear switched reluctance motor is proposed and investigated by means of advanced numerical simulations. The motor can generate two degrees of freedom movements: the same axis can both rotate and displace linearly. It is mechanically robust, simple to construct and easy to operate also in hostile automotive environment.

A low-complexity rotary-linear motor useable for actuation of active wheels
SPEEDAM 2010, 2010The combination of a rotary and linear motion along the same axis is used in several applications, including tooling machines, robotics, automation etc. It may be also used to conveniently manage pairs of basic functions of active wheels in electric and hybrid vehicles.

A Survey on Rotary-Linear Motors Used in Emerging Applications
IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019The requirement for complex motion control systems is steadily increasing in several emerging applications, such as robotics, machine tools, flexible manufacturing systems, automotive, etc. Usually, the needed complex movements are performed by several conventional electrical machines. The number of the actuating units, the required space to place them

A rotary linear motor driven by a pair of two‐dimensional ultrasonic actuators
Electronics and Communications in Japan (Part III: Fundamental Electronic Science), 1999There is a need to draw various patterns on the inner wall of a small pipe several millimeters in diameter to develop a precise linear scale. Since the authors have already developed a two-dimensional ultrasonic actuator that can move an object is two orthogonal directions independently, they now offer a rotary linear motor, in which the motor shaft is
