PERFORMANCE OF ROTARY-LINEAR INDUCTION MOTOR WITH ROTATING-TRAVELING FIELD

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1984
Abstract A rotary-linear induction motor whose stator creates a magnetic field traveling helically is presented. A theory of such a motor is derived taking into account a finite excitation length of the stator. Results obtained from the calculations are verified experimentally.

A distributed driving and steering system for electric vehicles using rotary-linear motors

SPEEDAM 2010, 2010
The paper presents the activities ongoing in the framework of a two-year Italian National Research Project aimed at developing a distributed Driving and Steering (DaS) system for Electric Vehicles (EVs). The system is built up around an actuation module embedding a rotary-linear motor and including a power converter and a local Electronic Control Unit (

A Miniature Rotary-linear Ultrasonic motor for Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) Imaging

2020 IEEE International Ultrasonics Symposium (IUS), 2020
Existing intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) systems basically make use of two motors to rotate and pull back the single-element transducer to realize three-dimensional (3D) vascular imaging. In order to realize 3D helical ultrasonic scanning, this study proposes a novel approach for an imaging catheter, which is driven by a miniature rotary-linear ...

Design and analysis of a novel rotary-linear motor with voice coil structure

2018 IEEE International Magnetics Conference (INTERMAG), 2018
With the greatly development of the industry, such as the field of integrated circuit and high-precision robot arm, they always require multidimensional complex movements and posture adjustments. Therefore, the multi-degree-of-freedom motion platform is among the most important research topics to advance precision machining.

How to convert a factory-manufactured induction motor into rotary-linear motor ? Part 1 Constructional issues

15th International Workshop on Research and Education in Mechatronics (REM), 2014
Induction motors with two degrees of freedom are unconventional drives offering broader possibilities of different movements than traditional drives. There is general opinion that construction of a machine with 2 degrees of freedom (2DoF machine) is much more complicated and expensive than a machine with one degree of freedom.

Precision positioning with a rotary-linear motor driven by a pair of 2-D ultrasonic actuators

MHS'96 Proceedings of the Seventh International Symposium on Micro Machine and Human Science, 2002
A new rotary-linear motor is proposed, the spindle of which is driven by a pair of two-dimensional ultrasonic actuators in the axial and rotational directions. A preliminary experiment applying a position feedback control system to a prototype of the motor revealed that a selfinduced voltage of a piezostack reduced the positioning accuracy. An improved

Rotary-linear induction motor composed of four primaries with independently energized ring-windings

IAS '97. Conference Record of the 1997 IEEE Industry Applications Conference Thirty-Second IAS Annual Meeting, 2002
In this paper, the authors propose a new type of tubular linear induction motor (TLIM) with two-dimensional motion. The proposed motor consists of plural short primary LIMs arranged on the same circumference and a common secondary. By adopting independently energized ring-windings to the primary, one can achieve both the reduction of coil-end region ...

Theoretical and experimental analysis of controllability of a novel bearingless rotary-linear reluctance motor with optimal chessboard toothing

2018 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2018
The bearingless rotary-linear reluctance motor is a new compact six degree of freedom drive enabling magnetic levitation, as well as translation and rotation of a ferromagnetic rotor independently. It consists of only two stators with each six poles allowing to control radial and tangential force independently. The tangential force is generated through
