On the Instability Threshold of Journal Bearing Supported Rotors
Journal bearing supported rotors present two kinds of self-excited vibrations: oil-whirl and oil-whip. The first one is commonly masked by the rotor unbalance, hence being rarely associated with instability problems.

Active Magnetic Bearing Online Levitation Recovery through μ-Synthesis Robust Control
A rotor supported on active magnetic bearings (AMBs) is levitated inside an air gap by electromagnets controlled in feedback. In the event of momentary loss of levitation due to an acute exogenous disturbance or external fault, reestablishing levitation ...

Dynamic Absorbers for Rotating Machinery
Dynamic absorbers are simple passive devices installed on mechanical systems to absorb and dissipate kinetic energy, thus reducing the amplitude of vibrations/oscillations. The most widely spread typologies of dynamic absorbers belong either to the family of the Tuned Mass Dampers (TMD) and Tuneable Liquid Column Dampers (TLCD).

Calculation of Rotor Dynamic Coefficients for Labyrinth Seals
A single control volume, Iwatsubo based bulk flow method for the calculation of these coefficients is developed and implemented. The method herein uses a unique iterative technique to first identify the mass flow rate based on pressure drops across the ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.
