Self-tuning routine alarm analysis of vibration signals in steam turbine generators [PDF]
This paper presents a self-tuning framework for knowledge-based diagnosis of routine alarms in steam turbine generators. The techniques provide a novel basis for initialising and updating time series feature extraction parameters used in the automated ...

Electrical Conductivities of Conductors, Semiconductors, and Their Mixtures at Elevated Temperatures
This article presents a comprehensive review of temperature‐dependent electrical conductivity data for multiple material classes at elevated temperatures, highlighting a persistent conductivity gap between metals and semiconductors in the range of 102$\left(10\right)^{2}$– 107$\left(10\right)^{7}$ S/m. Metal–ceramic irregular metamaterials are proposed

Most industrial rotors supported in active magnetic bearings (AMBs) are operated well below the first bending critical speed. Also, they are usually controlled using proportional, integral and derivative controllers, which are set up as modally uncoupled

Estimation of Bearing Forces in Rotating Machinery: A Problem Revisited [PDF]
Development of a new ship machinery installation may require combinations of prime movers, electric motors, generators, gearboxes and other items that have not been used previously. Large items of this type are expensive to develop, so that only existing

The use of orbitals and full spectra to identify misalignment [PDF]
In this paper, a SpectraQuest demonstrator is used to introduce misalignment in a rotating set-up. The vibrations caused by misalignment is measured with both accelerometers on the bearings and eddy current probes on the shaft itself.

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Biofabrication aims at providing innovative technologies and tools for the fabrication of tissue‐like constructs for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applications. By integrating multiple biofabrication technologies, such as 3D (bio) printing with fiber fabrication methods, it would be more realistic to reconstruct native tissue's ...

This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

Study on titanium fire suppression technology for aero-engine uncontained failures
In aero-engine containment tests, titanium alloy blades exploding and flying off generate a large amount of titanium fire, affecting the capture and recording of the blade flyoff process.

Adaptive Multiscale Symbolic-Dynamics Entropy for Condition Monitoring of Rotating Machinery
Vibration data from rotating machinery working in different conditions display different properties in spatial and temporal scales. As a result, insights into spatial- and temporal-scale structures of vibration data of rotating machinery are fundamental ...
