The fractional Fourier transform and time-frequency representations
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 1994The functional Fourier transform (FRFT), which is a generalization of the classical Fourier transform, was introduced a number of years ago in the mathematics literature but appears to have remained largely unknown to the signal processing community, to ...

Codman's paradox of the arm rotations is not a paradox: mathematical validation
Medical Engineering & Physics, 1998Movement of a straight arm centred at the shoulder joint in three successive 90 degrees rotations, each around the respective orthogonal coordinate axis, leads to an apparently unrelated 90 degrees rotation around the longitudinal arm axis. This empirical fact is known as Codman's paradox, after a Bostonian surgeon who first reported it in 1934 ...

A mathematical modeling of rotating waves in axial and radial compressors
Archive of Applied Mechanics, 1996A comparison between meteorological systems and fluid motions through compressors is proposed. A mathematical analysis analogous to the geophysical one emphasizes characteristic dimensions. A dimensionless kinematic parameter, akin to the Rossby number, emerges, and thus leads to the study of different cases.

A mathematical model of pulse plating on a rotating disk electrode
AIChE Journal, 1990AbstractA galvanostatic pulse plating model is presented for the electrodeposition of an alloy on a rotating disk electrode. This model is used to simulate the electrodeposition of nickel/chrome alloys. The mass transport equations used in the model include the effects of diffusion, migration and convection; and the electrode kinetics are described by ...

Mathematical model of the cylinder rotations in a viscous medium
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014In the paper movement of a rotating cylinder in a viscous medium is considered. Control law provides given position of the cylinder at the finite time minimizing the work of the drag forces to rotation is found. In the case when the control force is applied in the direction of the axis of symmetry the problem is singular.

Hydrodynamics in a Rotating Packed Bed. II. A Mathematical Model
Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2012A mathematical model for air–liquid two-phase flow in rotating packed beds (RPB) is established to describe the real condition of the fluid flow in the RPB. Results show that the model can better and reasonably predict the distribution of the air–liquid two-phase flow field, the pressure drop, the liquid film thickness, the proportion of the turbulent ...
