Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Influence of tool rotation errors on flank machined surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In flank milling, the machined metal surface is formed by the edge of the cutting tool and is thus affected by tool errors. Cutting tool rotation errors affect the movement of the tool teeth and thus change the trajectory of the tool edge.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Propagation characteristics of surface waves on half-space of piezoelectric semiconductor with rotation effect considered

open access: yesResults in Physics
In this paper, the propagation characteristics of generalized surface waves on a piezoelectric semiconductor half-space with the presence of the rotation are studied. First, the governing equations of motion of the piezoelectric semiconductor solid which

Disk accretion onto a magnetized star

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The problem of interaction of the rotating magnetic field, frozen to a star, with a thin well conducting accretion disk is solved exactly. It is shown that a disk pushes the magnetic field lines towards a star, compressing the stellar dipole magnetic ...

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.

Optimization of the factors affecting the drying rate of cassava grates in a rotary drum dryer

open access: yesAnnals of Tropical Research, 2007
This study determined the optimum effects of temperature, drum rotation and loading rate on the drying rate of cassava grates using the rotary drum dryer in removing moisture from cassava grates.

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

A Case-Study of Inconsistent Surface Reconstruction in Recent Literature Resulting from Octree Rotation-Variance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We review the use of octree and PCA (Principle Component Analysis) in current literature and explore a leading piece of research, as a case study, to highlight how overlooking octree rotation-variance has resulted in inconsistent results.
