Hybrid Metal–Carbon Ink for Printed Stretchable Temperature Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We prepare conductive inks for temperature sensing with silver flakes and carbon or graphite flakes in a silicone elastomer matrix. Silver dominates the temperature‐dependent conductivity, while the carbon filler network ensures the stability of the conductive pathways and retains function under strain.

Control of Polarization and Polar Helicity in BiFeO3 by Epitaxial Strain and Interfacial Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In BiFeO3 thin films, the interplay of interfacial chemistry, electrostatics, and epitaxial strain is engineered to stabilize homohelicity in polarization textures at the domain scale. The synergistic use of a Bi2O2‐terminated Aurivillius buffer layer and a highly anisotropic compressive epitaxial strain offers new routes to control the polar‐texture ...

Influence of Joint Flexibility on Vibration Analysis of Free-Free Beams

open access: yesNonlinear Engineering, 2014
In present work, joint flexibility (or looseness) of the free-free beam is investigated by using a two noded beam finite element formulation with transverse displacement and joint rotations as the degrees of freedom per node at joint location ...

Surgical Results in Rotator Cuff Tears with Shoulder Stiffness

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2007
Little has been mentioned about the treatment of rotator cuff tears and associated shoulder stiffness. We prospectively treated a series of patients with rotator cuff tears associated with shoulder stiffness concomitantly and reported the outcomes.A combined procedure of manipulation, lysis of adhesions, anterior acromioplasty and repair of rotator ...

Swelling‐Programmed Topographical Guidance for Dynamic Spheroid Self‐Assembly via a Mechanochemical Hydrogel Niche

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A swelling‐programmed micropatterned hydrogel guides adherent cells through a controlled transition from cell–matrix anchoring to cadherin‐mediated cell–cell compaction, enabling rapid assembly of high‐viability spheroids with defined size and morphology.

Beam-spring generalized model for segmental lining and simulation of its nonlinear rotation

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2019
The beam-spring model method has been widely used in the design and calculation of shield tunnel lining, but the existing beam-spring models cannot simulate the discontinuous deformation of the segmental joints and the nonlinear characteristics of the ...

Strengthening Rotationally Moulded Products: Development of a Rotomouldable Thermoplastic Composite

open access: yes, 2008
Rotational moulding is a process with a range of unique benefits, currently experiencing significant growth within industry. A primary limitation of the process, however, is the restricted range of suitable materials and the subsequent limitations placed

Spatially Modulated Morphotropic Phase Boundaries in a Compressively Strained Multiferroic Thin Film

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The coexisting rhombohedral‐like (R′, MA) and tetragonal‐like (T′, MC) monoclinic phases in compressively strained bismuth ferrite thin films exhibit exceptional piezoelectric and magnetic properties. While previous studies have largely focused on probing the morphotropic phase boundaries (MPBs) comprising ordered R′/T′ twins, their self ...
