Experimental Investigation of Rotor-Stator Interaction in Axial-Flow Turbines and Compressors

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 1998
Detailed results of unsteady flow measurements in a stator-rotor-stator assembly of an axial-flow turbine as well as an inlet guide vane-rotor-stator formation of an axial-flow compressor are presented in this paper.

Non-linear dynamic of rotor-stator system with non-linear bearing clearance

open access: yes, 2004
The study deals with a rotor-stator contact inducing vibration in rotating machinery. A numerical rotor-stator system, including a non-linear bearing with Hertz contact and clearance is considered.

Assessment of 3D modeling for rotor–stator contact simulations [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Sound and Vibration, 2015
Most often the dynamic analysis of rotor-to-stator rub is performed using 1D models. This leads to a small computational cost, but the reliability of the results is difficult to assess. This research work compares and analyzes the results of 1D and 3D rotor-stator contact problems, for different contact conditions more and less severe.

High‐Resolution Characterization of Protein‐Conjugated, mRNA‐Loaded Lipid Nanoparticles by Analytical Ultracentrifugation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles containing messenger RNA are characterized by sedimentation velocity analytical ultracentrifugation using UltraScan's new Custom Grid algorithm to provide multi‐dimensional distributions for partial specific volume (particle density), molar mass, sedimentation, diffusion, and hydrodynamic radius.

Switchable Supramolecular Adhesive by Tuning Interfacial Bonding and Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular adhesive (HyDiP) shows reversible adhesion and recyclability. In the dehydrated state, it is dense, stiff (E ≈445 MPa), transparent, and provides strong bonding with adhesion strengths up to 4.65 MPa. In the hydrated state, it becomes porous, soft (E ≈0.11 MPa), and detaches easily, enabling sustainable high‐strength applications ...

Poloidal-toroidal decomposition in a finite cylinder. II. Discretization, regularization and validation

open access: yes, 2007
The Navier-Stokes equations in a finite cylinder are written in terms of poloidal and toroidal potentials in order to impose incompressibility. Regularity of the solutions is ensured in several ways: First, the potentials are represented using a spectral

Color Routing and Beam Steering of Single‐Molecule Emission with a Spherical Silicon Nanoantenna

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We experimentally demonstrate broadband directional emission from single molecules using a single spherical silicon nanoparticle assembled via DNA origami. By varying nanoparticle (NP) size and emitter position, we achieve unidirectional emission, beam steering, and color routing at the nanoscale, revealing modal interference as the underlying ...

Performance Assessment of Bladeless Micro-Expanders Using 3D Numerical Simulation [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
This paper summarizes the development of fully 3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for bladeless air micro expander for 200 W and 3 kW rated power. Modelling of nozzle along with rotor is done using structured mesh.

Numerical analysis of the influence of design parameters on the efficiency of an OWC axial impulse turbine for wave energy conversion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Oscillating water column (OWC) axial impulse turbines permit the conversion of wave energy into electrical power. Unlike other hydropower units with a mature and well established technology, such turbines have been recently developed, there are still few

Heat transfer in rotor/stator cavity

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2011
In the paper we analyze the results of DNS/LES of the flow with heat transfer in the rotor/stator cavity. The rotor and the outer cylinder are heated. Computations have been performed for wide range of Reynolds numbers and aspect ratios. Computations are based on the efficient pseudo-spectral Chebyshev-Fourier method.
