Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.

Bifurcation shifts in a rotor-stator contact system under frictional forces to higher rotational speeds caused by stator thickness

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal
Accurate simulations of detrimental vibrations observed in a rotor-stator contact system are beneficial. Existing contact models that consider the contact configurations between the rotor and stator cannot deal with the frictional forces simultaneously ...

Vane Clocking Effects on Stator Suction Side Boundary Layers in a Multistage Compressor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2016
The stator inlet flow field in a multistage compressor varies in the pitchwise direction due to upstream vane wakes and how those wakes interact with the upstream rotor tip leakage flows.

Degradable Magnetic Composites from Recycled NdFeB Magnets for Soft Actuation and Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a degradable soft magnetic composite made from recycled NdFeB particles embedded in a gelatin‐based organogel. The material is processed into magnetic sensors and soft robotic components, which can later be dissolved in a green solvent to recover NdFeB magnetic particles.

Rotationally induced ingress in rotor–stator systems

open access: yesPhysics of Fluids
The presence of a rotating disk adjacent to a stationary disk forms a rotor–stator cavity known as a wheel-space. It is necessary for gas turbine wheel-spaces to be purged with sealing flow bled from the compressor to counteract the harmful effects of ingress.

FiN‐Kiri: Fabric‐Based Inflatable Kirigami Actuator for Multimodal Soft Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study introduces a type of inflatable fabric‐based kirigami actuator capable of performing bending motion. The actuator is utilized as soft grippers, a crawling robot and a swimming robot. The crawling robot demonstrated extraordinary motion capabilities, such as moving forward, turning and navigating a narrow tunnel.

IL‐7R‐Enriched Extracellular Vesicles From the Thymus Drive Colitis via Promoting Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) pathogenesis remains unclear. This study reveals that thymus‐originated IL‐7R‐enriched extracellular vesicles exacerbate colitis by promoting neutrophil extracellular traps via a thymus‐gut axis, uncovering an inter‐organ communication mechanism in inflammatory bowel disease pathogenesis.

Dynamic model of cage induction motor with number of rotor bars as parameter

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2017
A dynamic mathematical model, using number of rotor bars as parameter, is reached for cage induction motors through the use of coupled-circuits and the concept of winding functions. The exact MMFs waveforms are accounted for by the model which is derived
