Topological Dynamics in Supramolecular Rotors

Nano Letters, 2014
Artificial molecular switches, rotors, and machines are set to establish design rules and applications beyond their biological counterparts. Herein we exemplify the role of noncovalent interactions and transient rearrangements in the complex behavior of supramolecular rotors caged in a 2D metal-organic coordination network.

Rotor Dynamics of Overhung Rotors: Hysteretic Dynamic Behavior

Volume 7: Structures and Dynamics, Parts A and B, 2012
Overhung-configuration rotors are commonly used in the oil, gas and process industries. Examples of this type of equipment include power turbines, Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) expanders, turbochargers and pipeline boosters. Generally, in overhung-configuration rotors, the mass concentration is near the bearing on the overhung end, so the rotor ...

Consistent matrices in rotor dynamic

Meccanica, 1985
The expressions for the consistent mass and gyroscopic matrices for a constant section shaft element are obtained taking into account both shear deformation and transversal inertia. The results are compared with closed form solutions, which are available in simple cases.

Vibration mitigation and dynamics of a rotor-blade system with an attached nonlinear energy sink

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2020
Excessive vibration of rotor-blade systems has been a main reason for the failure of rotating machinery. Therefore, methods capable of simultaneously suppressing vibrations rotor and blade are urgently needed.

Simplified Rotor Dynamics

2011
The helicopter’s main source of propulsion is provided by the main and tail rotor. The aerodynamic forces and moments are nonlinear functions of motion characteristics and controls. Due to the complexity and the uncertainty associated with the aerodynamic phenomena, a detailed model of the forces and moments produced by the main rotor would be of high ...

Bearing influenced rotor dynamics

Tribology International, 1981
Abstract This paper presents a brief summary of the influence of journal bearings in machinery with special reference to rotor dynamic problems. The journal bearings considered are Newtonian, non-Newtonina and magnetohydrodynamic and their influence on the critical speeds and stability of rotors is ...

Dynamics of Wrist-Worn Eccentric-Rotor Energy Harvesters

, 2020
This work concerns the steady-state dynamics of eccentric-rotor harvesters under the excitation of a forced pendulum, selected as a simplified representation of the swinging motion of the human arm during locomotion, to better understand their use for ...

Introduction to Rotor Dynamics

2013
Rotor-dynamics studies the lateral and torsional vibrations of rotating shafts, with the objectives of predicting the rotor vibrations and constraining the vibration level under an acceptable limit. In this chapter we present a short introduction to rotor dynamics to familiarize the reader with the basic concepts and terminologies commonly used in ...

Dynamic Interactions between Fast Microscale Rotors

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
Trimetallic catalytic microrotors were fabricated by electrodeposition of cylindrical Au-Ru rods in the pores of anodic alumina membranes, dissolution of the template membrane, and then sequential vapor deposition of Cr, SiO(2), Cr, Au, and Pt on one side of each rod.

Frictional effects on the nonlinear dynamics of an overhung rotor

Communications in nonlinear science & numerical simulation, 2019
An overhung rotor model is explored to determine the effect of friction during contact between the rotor and stator. The model has two degrees of freedom with rotor stator contact and the equations of motion are non-dimensionalised. A parametric study of
