High‐throughput mutational analysis of F1‐ATPase by integrated cell‐free protein synthesis and single‐molecule rotation assay

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract F1‐ATPase (F1) is a rotary molecular motor that hydrolyzes adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to drive rotation of the central subunit against the surrounding stator ring. Single‐molecule rotation assays of mutated F1s have elucidated the roles of residues and regions in the chemo‐mechanical coupling mechanism, yet comprehensive mutational ...

Activating Paper Applying Gelatin, Starch and Chitosan Coatings Loaded With O/W Emulsions Encapsulating Rutin, Carvacrol and α‐Tocopherol

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, Volume 39, Issue 8, Page 1061-1082, August 2026.
Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

Analytical Ultracentrifugation in Aotearoa: A Brief History of the Technique and its Place Among Other Tools Used to Investigate Biomolecular Interactions

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, Volume 56, Issue 4, August 2026.
Analytical ultracentrifugation (AUC) is a powerful and versatile tool for studying biomolecular interactions. The purpose of this commentary is to provide foundational knowledge of the technique and its uses through the presentation of two case studies in which AUC provides key data to answer research questions.

Wind Turbine Control for Spatially Varying Turbulence

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the influence of inflow turbulence generation simulation methods and blade pitch control strategies on the performance and blade structure loading of a large offshore wind turbine. Two inflow representations were considered: synthetic Kaimal turbulence generated in accordance with IEC design standards and large‐eddy ...

Economic Benefits of Hydrogenerator Rotor Pole Redesign and Field Winding Refurbishment to Accommodate Future Operational Regimes

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion
Over the last decade, large hydropower plants have shifted their operational regimes from nominal conditions to more diversified load cycles owing to the increasing share of intermittent renewables that have necessitated more flexible hydropower operations. However, increased load variability has made the hydrogenerator efficiency a more important

Comparison of Spatio‐Temporal Dispersion Electrogram Ablation and Low Voltage Zone Ablation in Patients With Persistent Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page 1837-1845, August 2026.
This study compared STDE‐guided versus LVZ‐guided ablation beyond PVI in 107 persistent AF patients. At 24 months, the AF‐free survival rate was significantly higher in the STDE group (76.3% vs. 58.4%, p=0.027). STDE ablation independently reduced recurrence risk (HR: 0.29, p=0.004), providing superior clinical efficacy over LVZ ablation.

Analyses of Atmospheric Turbulence Near Surface Observed by Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle in the Suburban Area of Seoul Metropolitan, South Korea

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract As the use of uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), ranging from small drones to large person‐transport vehicles, continues to expand, detailed wind and turbulence observations near surface in urban areas are crucial for safe flight planning. In summer 2021, a field campaign was conducted in the suburbs of Seoul, South Korea, using a UAV equipped ...

Analysis of the Charge Structure and Lightning Activity During a Severe Beijing Thunderstorm via an Innovative Balloon‐Borne 3D Electric Field Observation System

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 14, 28 July 2026.
Abstract We developed an innovative balloon‐borne observation system based on China's BeiDou sounding platform that integrates a three‐axis electric field sensor for in‐cloud measurements of thunderstorm electrification. On 13 May 2025, this system was deployed during a severe convective storm over Beijing. In combination with multisource observations,

Investigation of stator/rotor pole number combinations in field-modulated permanent magnet machine

open access: yesJournal of Physics Communications
This paper investigates the fluence of stator/rotor pole number combinations on electromagnetic performance of field-modulated permanent-magnet (FMPM) machines. These machines employ the spoke-type PM and the consequent-pole PM as the rotor. Firstly, the
