Saturation-Induced Variable-Flux Characteristics in a 12-Slot 10-Pole Concentrated Winding Permanent-Magnet Motor

open access: yesMachines, 2023
This paper proposes a stator core design to achieve variable-flux characteristics enhanced by magnetic saturation in fractional-slot concentrated winding (FSCW) permanent-magnet (PM) motors without additional excitation systems, complicated structures ...

Design and Comparison of grid connected Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator Non-salient Pole and Salient Pole Rotor Wind Turbine

open access: yesAIUB Journal of Science and Engineering (AJSE), 2021
Variable speed wind turbines are widely used wind energy conversion system (WECS). Among them doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) and permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) are mostly used. PMSG based wind turbines are getting more popular in recent times because of their several advantages over other types.

Optimal Selection of Rotor Bar Number for Minimizing Torque and Current Pulsations Due to Rotor Slot Harmonics in Three-Phase Cage Induction Motors

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
The paper develops a method to choose the number of rotor bars in order to eliminate rotor slot harmonics in stator current spectrum and pulsation torques that are their consequence.

Molecular Rotors: From Newtonian Fluids to Functional Materials as Viscosity and Temperature Sensing Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular rotors are fluorescent molecules that are sensitive to viscosity and temperature variations in the environment. They exhibit a direct correlation between fluorescence and viscosity within Newtonian fluids. However, this correlation becomes less straightforward in complex systems.

Resolving Heterogeneity of Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles Through Solution‐Based Biophysical Analyses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AF4‐UV‐DLS‐MALS‐SAXS resolves previously inaccessible targeted lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) subpopulations that differ in size, shape, and composition. Correlation of subpopulation‐resolved biophysical properties with in vivo RNA delivery reveals that targeted placental transfection is associated with distinct tLNP subpopulations rather than ensemble ...

Modular Rotor Single Phase Field Excited Flux Switching Machine with Non-Overlapped Windings

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
This paper aims to propose and compare three new structures of single-phase field excited flux switching machine for pedestal fan application. Conventional six-slot/three-pole salient rotor design has better performance in terms of torque, whilst also ...

Complementarity analysis of consequent-pole bearingless flux reversal motor windings with different pitch matchings

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2022
First, a topology of a consequent-pole bearingless flux reversal (CPBFR) motor suitable for flywheel battery magnetic suspension support systems is proposed, and the specific forms of different winding pitches are analyzed.

Design Modification in Single-Tooth Winding Double-Stator Switched Reluctance Motor for Torque Ripple Mitigation

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
Double-stator switched reluctance motors (DSSRMs) with single-tooth winding topology possesses high torque density when compared to conventional switched reluctance motors (SRMs).

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Nonlocomotory Robotic Strategies for Dynamic Rotation Control in Terrestrial Robots: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Terrestrial robots increasingly require rapid body rotation to maintain stability and agility in complex environments. This review shows nonlocomotory rotational control strategies that operate without ground contact, including reaction wheels, tails, bars, limbs, and thrusters.
