Irregular windings in wound rotor induction motors
Electrical Engineering, 1934The importance of using regular windings in polyphase wound rotor induction motors is stressed in this paper. Harmful effects upon the efficiency, power factor, breakdown torque and noise of the motor may result with an irregular winding, due to differential leakage. The Goerges diagram of tooth fluxes is presented for studying this phenomenon.

Active Twist Rotor for Wind Tunnel Investigations
ASME 2010 Conference on Smart Materials, Adaptive Structures and Intelligent Systems, Volume 2, 2010This paper describes the design and manufacturing of active twist rotor blades for the use as secundary control of a helicopter main rotor. These blades have been developed at the DLR in Braunschweig, Germany over the last years. Special features of the blade are the capability to twist individual sections of the blade. It is planned to equip the blade

Intelligent wind power unit with tandem wind rotors
2010Wind is clean, renewable and home grown energy source of the electric power generation, and has been positively/effectively utilized to cope with the warming global environment. The propeller type wind turbines play main role in the wind power generation; however, it may have some weak points.

Wind Turbine Rotor Blades under Fatigue Loads
1990To investigate fatigue life of wind turbine rotor blades DLR operates a 100 kW wind energy converter with 25 m diameter rotor at its test site in Southern Germany. Additionally, fatigue tests on Gl-Ep material and full scale components are carried out at the laboratory. Results of these investigations are presented.

Optimization method for wind turbine rotors
Journal of Wind Engineering and Industrial Aerodynamics, 1999Abstract This paper presents a recently developed numerical multi-disciplinary optimization method for design of horizontal axis wind turbines. The method allows multiple constraints. The objective was minimum cost of energy, determined by the design giving fatigue and extreme loads and the annual production of energy.
