Transition state stabilization by n→π* interactions measured using molecular rotors.
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2019A series of 16 molecular rotors were synthesized to investigate the ability of n→π* interactions to stabilize transition states (TS) of bond rotation. Steric contributions to the rotational barrier were isolated using control rotors, which could not form

Transport properties in the relativistic analog of the periodically kicked rotor are contrasted under classically and quantum mechanical dynamics. The quantum rotor is treated by solving the Dirac equation in the presence of the time-periodic delta-function potential resulting in a relativistic quantum mapping describing the evolution of the wave ...

Impact of Rotor-Rotor and Rotor-Body Aerodynamic Interactions on Quadrotor Vehicle Performance
Proceedings of the Vertical Flight Society 79th Annual Forum, 2023Rotor-rotor and rotor-body interactions can have a first-order impact on multirotor vehicle performance. Identification of these performance impacts has previously been limited to numerical analysis and controlled environment testing, and they are largely unknown for full-scale multirotor flight vehicles. To capture these interactional effects,

Autorotating rotors can, in a single configuration system, provide the capability for retardation, stabilization, drag force modulation, glide at useful L/D ratios, maneuvering and control during descent, and low-velocity touchdown. A given configuration will deploy over a wide range of speeds and dynamic pressures.

Solid-Rotor and Composite-Rotor Induction Machines
IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems, 1972The feasibility of constructing composite rotors in the laboratory for use on a 60- to 120-Hz supply has been established and the experimental results with such rotors have been published for the first time. Results obtained from the tests made on a three-phase induction motor with different solid-iron as well as composite rotors are presented.

Rotation–libration and rotor–rotor coupling in 4-methylpyridine
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2004The low temperature rotational dynamics of methyl groups in 4-methylpyridine is analyzed in terms of a model potential including rotation–libration and rotor–rotor coupling. The parameters of the model potential are adjusted by comparison of calculated with published and newly recorded inelastic neutron scattering spectra.

Abstract The use of a wing to unload the helicopter rotor is discussed for the cases with and without auxiliary propulsion. Data are presented from the flight test of five wing-rotor combinations showing the effects of the wing on the performance, stability and control, structural loads and maneuver characteristics of the machines.

AbstractThis appendix provides rmax values (the maximum value of the rotating radius between the particle being centrifuged and the axis of rotation) for commonly used rotors manufactured by Du Pont (Sorvall), Beckman, Fisher, and IEC. Additionally, nomograms are provided for determining the relative centrifugal force (RCF) where speed and rmax are ...
