Incorporating economic multipliers in a bid adjustment algorithm for public food procurement decision making

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract We present an adjusted bid price mechanism that incorporates economic multiplier effects in public food procurement decision making. Under Input–Output model assumptions, the algorithm estimates enhanced tax revenues to state governments through multiplier effects associated with in‐state supplier purchasing.

Exploring Salinity Gradient Power in Sweden: Key Factors, Machine Learning Predictive Modeling, and Life Cycle Assessment

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, EarlyView.
This study optimizes salinity gradient power generation using reverse electrodialysis (RED) by analyzing key operational parameters through factorial experiments and machine learning. Life cycle assessment reveals RED environmental impact and sustainability compared to other renewables, offering insights into future material choices and system ...

Boundedness for Parametrized Littlewood-Paley Operators with Rough Kernels on Weighted Weak Hardy Spaces

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2013
The authors prove that the parametrized area integral and function are bounded from the weighted weak Hardy space to the weighted weak Lebesgue space as satisfies a class of the integral Dini condition, respectively.

Effects of storage temperature and duration on the milling properties of rice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
To maximize rice quality, it is essential to quantify the various factors that affect milling properties of rice. Rice aging, a process during which rice undergoes a series of chemical and physicochemical changes, affects head rice yield (HRY) and the ...

Effects of Environmental and Health Information on Willingness to Pay for Local and Organic Foods in Taiwan

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Using a lab‐in‐the‐field experiment, we investigate how providing information about food miles and pesticide residue influences willingness to pay (WTP) for potatoes among 407 shoppers in Taiwan, split between a supermarket and a farmers market.

Topological Properties of International Commodity Market: How Uncertainty Affects the Linkages?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The study aims to explore the network topology of the international commodity market by examining the interconnections among 21 commodity futures across various categories, including energy, precious and industrial metals, and agriculture. We analyze the market structure of these commodity futures under both low and high uncertainty conditions

Acceleration computing process in wavelength scanning interferometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The optical interferometry has been widely explored for surface measurement due to the advantages of non-contact and high accuracy interrogation. Eventually, some interferometers are used to measure both rough and smooth surfaces such as white light ...

Singular integral operators with rough convolution kernels [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Mathematical Society, 1996
in all dimensions, again under the assumption Q e L log L. It is conceivable that a variant of the arguments in [3] for the maximal operator could also work for the singular integral operator; in fact, in unpublished work, the authors of [3] obtained a weak type (1, 1) inequality in dimension d < 7.

Food Tastes in the United States: Convergence or Divergence?

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates how food consumption tastes have changed in recent decades across the United States. Using NielsenIQ data for over 77 million transactions, there is evidence of divergence in food tastes across regions from 2007 to 2016 and across households of different income, education, and race/ethnicity groups.
