Bolted Connections in Round Bar Steel Structures
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1985High‐strength bolted connections in round bar steel structures in which the bolts are subjected to direct tension are studied. Special attention is paid to the prying action in the connection. A theory is developed that permits analysis of bolted end plate connections, including determination of the prying forces.

Welded Connections in Round Bar Steel Structures
Journal of the Structural Division, 1979Welded connections in round bar steel structures are studied with a view to clarifying the strength and stiffness characteristics of the various types of connections commonly used. Various forms of butt-welded joints in round bar members and various types of connections between round bars and other structural elements, e.g., gusset plates in trussed ...

Compressive Strength of Solid Round Steel Bars
Journal of Structural Engineering, 2004In the era of modernization, solid round steel bars are widely used in communication towers, which play a vital role in today's world. Solid steel round bars are used as leg members, diagonal members, and horizontal members of a communication tower.

Numerical simulations of a two roll round bar straightener
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016A finite element model of a two-roll round bar straightener has been developed to study the influence of key parameters on the straightening process. The present model already allows a better understanding of the process and the effects of straightening on the bar. A dedicated post-treatment is also proposed. It is particularly focused on the defect of

The Study of Forward Slip Model in Round-Oval-Round Bar Rolling
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012In order to predict the forward slip value correctly, this article established regression model of forward slip in oval-round and round-oval pass rolling, predicted the forward slip values in ach pass in Ф12 and Ф16 round bar rolling for a factory, measured forward slip of lead rods in experimental mill using geometrical modeling method.

Fracture toughness analysis of circumferentially-cracked round bars
International Journal of Fracture, 2000The accuracy and the domain of applicability of approximate formulae used to evaluate the fracture toughness of circumferentially-Cracked Round Bars (CRBs) are established using finite element calculations. In the elastic plastic fracture mechanic (EPFM) domain, new formulae are developed which increase largely the accuracy and the domain of ...

Cropping of Round Bar Utilizing Plastic Fatigue
1974As an alternative to existing bar and tube cropping techniques, a cropping method is described which utilizes plastic fatigue fracture and consists of roller grooving and subsequent rotary bending. Solid billets thus cropped at an appropriate number of rotations to fracture have flat and smooth cut ends and show no deterioration in ductility in a ...

Fracture Toughness Testing with Notched Round Bars
2000A method to simplify fracture toughness testing and reduce testing costs is discussed. An alternative specimen geometry, the notched round bar (NRB), has been combined with a simpler testing methodology. A multispecimen technique using notched round bars with finite notch root radii ρ was applied to 2024-T351 and overaged 2024 aluminum alloy.

ELLIPTICAL‐ARC SURFACE CRACKS IN ROUND BARS
Fatigue & Fracture of Engineering Materials & Structures, 1992AbstractThe crack aspect ratio influence on the stress‐intensity factor of elliptical‐arc edge flaws in solid round bars under tension or bending loading is discussed. The relative crack depth ξ=a/D between the depth a of the crack's deepest point and the bar diameter D ranges from 0.1 to 0.6, while the aspect ratio a/b of the flaw is made to vary from
