Cauchy DMP: Improving 3C industrial assembly quality with the Cauchy kernel and singular value decomposition

open access: yesCognitive Computation and Systems, 2023
Although Dynamic Movement Primitives (DMP) is an effective tool for robotic arm trajectory generalisation, the application of DMP in the 3C (Computer, Communication, Consumer Electronics) industry still faces challenges such as low precision and high ...

Memory and Resting‐State Connectivity in Acute Transient Global Amnesia: A Case–Control fMRI Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Transient global amnesia (TGA) is a striking model of isolated amnesia. While hippocampal lesions are well described, the network‐level mechanisms and the precise neuropsychological profile remain debated. Our objective was thus to characterize functional and neuropsychological correlates of acute TGA and their ...

Rounding-Error Analysis of Multigrid \({V}\)-Cycles

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Scientific Computing
This paper provides a rounding-error analysis for two-grid methods that use one relaxation step both before and after coarsening. The analysis is based on floating point arithmetic and focuses on a two-grid scheme that is perturbed on the coarse grid to allow for an approximate coarse-grid solve.

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Improved conditioning of the Floater--Hormann interpolants

open access: yes, 2017
The Floater--Hormann family of rational interpolants do not have spurious poles or unattainable points, are efficient to calculate, and have arbitrarily high approximation orders.

A semi-Lagrangian Vlasov solver in tensor train format

open access: yes, 2014
In this article, we derive a semi-Lagrangian scheme for the solution of the Vlasov equation represented as a low-parametric tensor. Grid-based methods for the Vlasov equation have been shown to give accurate results but their use has mostly been limited ...

Influence of Sample Preparation and Processing Procedures on the Thermal Diffusivity of MgO‐C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

On the numerical stability of the branched continued fraction expansion of the ratio $H_4(a,d+1;c,d;\mathbf{z})/H_4(a,d+2;c,d+1;\mathbf{z})$

open access: yesМатематичні Студії
Continued fractions and their generalization, branched continued fractions, are the effective tools used to study special functions. In this aspect, an important problem of continued fractions and branched continued fractions is the study of their ...

The Effects of Rounding on the Consumer Price Index [PDF]

open access: yes
The Bureau of Labor Statistics rounds the Consumer Price Index (CPI) to a single decimal place before releasing it, and the published CPI inflation series is calculated from those rounded index values. While rounding has only a relatively small effect on
