A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

Rounding error analysis for forward continued fraction algorithms
There exist several algorithms for the calculation of convergents of a continued fraction. We will investigate the effect of data perturbations and rounding errors for some algorithms, using the ideas of Stummel's perturbation theory [3] which is a ...

Rounding patterns of survival probabilistic expectations and their consequences on inference. [PDF]
openThe focus of this thesis is on subjective expectations, how they are formed and their consequences in the financial market participation. Data on subjective expectations are taken from the SHARE survey: the Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in ...

In this paper, we consider some numerical aspects of branched continued fractions as special families of functions to represent and expand analytical functions of several complex variables, including generalizations of hypergeometric functions.

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Periodicity and Transport from Round-Off Errors [PDF]
We investigate the effects of round-off errors on quasi-periodic motions in a linear symplectic planar map. By discretizing coordinates uniformly we transform this map into a permutation of Z2, and study motions near infinity, which correspond to a fine discretization. We provide numerical evidence that all orbits are periodic and that the averageorder

Hydrogen‐Assisted Fracture of Iron‐Based Fe–Ni–Al Alloys
Principal relations and fracture mechanisms of single‐phase and precipitate‐strengthened Fe–Ni–Al alloys subjected to prior electrochemical hydrogen charging are identified. The mechanisms of hydrogen effect on strength and microhardness are discussed, including hydrogen‐induced increase in microhardness and the role of hydrogen in fracture behavior ...
