Rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) in an apple orchard [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2012
Many rove beetle (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) species are carnivorous. Despite their positive role in the biological control of agricultural arthropod pests rove beetles are relatively poorly studied in general, and little is known about their habitat associations including their occurrence and seasonal activity in the apple-orchard environment. In 1994,

An Assessment of Environmental Risk of Bt-Maize on Rove Beetle Communities

open access: yesEcological Chemistry and Engineering S, 2022
Abstract An environmental risk assessment related to the genetically modified crops still needs to be studied. In the non-target organisms, rove beetles seem to be well-chosen arthropods for this purpose. Rove beetle abundance and species diversity were studied in the first large-scale Bt-maize experiment in the ...

The influence of cutting height on arthropods in farm grassland

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, EarlyView.
Mowing at a cutting height of 13 cm slightly reduced the immediate negative impact of mowing compared to mowing at a height of 7 cm. Medium‐term effects overrode this benefit: the number of vegetation‐dwelling arthropods remained strongly reduced two and four weeks after mowing, regardless of the cutting height.
