On the Chemical Disguise of a Physogastric Termitophilous Rove Beetle
Inter-specific symbiotic links are often reinforced by morphological, physiological, or behavioural trait modification undergone by the associated species. In some cases, such as in physogastric termitophile staphylinids, such modifications do facilitate the social interaction.

Deep-Time Convergence in Rove Beetle Symbionts of Army Ants [PDF]
Recent adaptive radiations provide striking examples of convergence [1-4], but the predictability of evolution over much deeper timescales is controversial, with a scarcity of ancient clades exhibiting repetitive patterns of phenotypic evolution [5, 6].

The Deadman River watershed (British Columbia, Canada) was severely impacted by the Sparks Lake Fire in 2021. Timelapse photogrammetry reveals sharp post‐fire channel widening and increase in migration rate. Through multispectral remote‐sensing analysis, these morphodynamic changes are related to burn severity affecting the watershed.

Urbanisation is increasing worldwide and is regarded a major driver of environmental change altering local species assemblages. Private domestic gardens contribute a significant share of total green area in cities, but their biodiversity has received ...

Pollinator‐targeted annual flower strips increase abundances of pollinators but also natural enemies and herbivores. Natural enemies and herbivores disperse in a taxon‐specific manner into nearby crops. Pest control by ground‐dwellers slightly increases in crop areas near the flower strips.

ABSTRACT Invasive species pose a serious threat to biodiversity and result in significant economic costs. Although much effort is devoted to understanding invasive processes, some aspects are poorly understood, such as the early stages of invasions and the reasons for invasion failure.

In this study, we examined the codiversification and phylogeography of Camponotus laevigatus and its obligate endosymbiont Blochmanniella using a population genomic approach. Using whole‐genome sequencing, we identified three phylogeographic clusters with congruent host‐endosymbiont phylogenies, significant isolation‐by‐distance, and Pleistocene ...

Both flower and grass strips supported significantly higher arthropod activity than adjacent crop fields, underlining the general ecological value of field margins regardless of floral composition. The observed group‐specific responses emphasize the need for taxa‐specific analyses within heterogeneous functional groups, rather than relying solely on ...
