Effects of Between‐Row and Within‐Row Spacing on Alfalfa Seed Yields
Crop Science, 2008Proper between‐row and within‐row spacing is essential for optimizing alfalfa seed yields and stand longevity. Using three alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) cultivars (WL232HQ, Derby, and Algonquin), we conducted a field study from 2004 to 2007 to evaluate the effects of three between‐row spacing treatments (60, 80, and 100 cm) and four within‐row spacing ...

Let \({\cal B}_n\) be the set of all \(n\times n\) Boolean matrices. Let R(A) denote the row space of \(A\in{\cal B}_n\), let \({\cal R}_n=\{r \mid r={\rm r}(A),\ A\in {\cal B}_n \}\), and let \(a_n=\min\{q\ge 1\mid q\notin {\cal R}_n\}\). By extensive computation we found that $${\cal R}_9\cap[1,256]=[1,190]\cup [192,204]\cup\{206\}\cup[208,212 ...

Row and Column Spaces of Matrices over Residuated Lattices
Fundamenta Informaticae, 2012We present results regarding row and column spaces of matrices whose entries are elements of residuated lattices. In particular, we define the notions of a row and column space for matrices over residuated lattices, provide connections to concept lattices and other structures associated to such matrices, and show several properties of the row and ...

Characterizations of Row and Column Hilbert Space
Journal of the London Mathematical Society, 1994Summary: Many people have obtained theorems that give necessary and sufficient conditions for a Banach space to be isometrically isomorphic to a Hilbert space. We pursue the analogous problem in the category of operator spaces: we give numerous conditions that characterize row and column Hilbert space.

On Distributions of Cardinalities of Row Spaces of Boolean Matrices
Semigroup Forum, 1998This paper shows that the cardinality of the row space of an \(n\times n\) Boolean matrix, \(n\geq 7\), is not equal to \(2^{n-1}-j\), \(j=1,\ldots,n-6\).

RESPONSE OF SUNFLOWER HYBRIDS TO ROW SPACING
Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1988An early- and a late-maturing oilseed sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrid were grown at 45- and 90-cm row spacings in the 1984 to 1986 seasons at Morden, Manitoba. In the 45-cm rows compared to the 90-cm rows, plant height was reduced approximately 9 cm, and achene yield was increased 14.5% for the early hybrid.

Linear Spaces: Row and Column Spaces
1997Associated with any matrix is a very important characteristic called the rank. The rank of a matrix is the subject of Section 4.4. There are several (consistent) ways of defining the rank. The most fundamental of these is in terms of the dimension of a linear space.

Orthogonal Projections in the Row and the Column Spaces
NIR news, 2016It is a long-standing convention of NIR news that we publish a modified version of the Tomas Hirschfeld Award lecture soon after the award has taken place. In 2016, the Hirschfeld Award was made to Jean-Michel Roger (IRSTEA, France) someone who is well-known within the near infrared community as a chemometrician of note and who has made very many ...

AbstractDry edible bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) production practices in the northern Great Plains have begun to shift from conventional wide (0.76‐m) to narrower row spacings for maximizing seed yields. Field experiments were conducted to determine row spacing and plant population effects for production of dry, edible bean in the northern Great Plains ...
