Since the war many companies in this country have used psychological tests to help in the selection of apprentices. Unfortunately there is a dearth of evidence to show how successful these tests are. At Rolls-Royce the authors have recently carried out an extensive validation study of the way in which they select craft apprentices.

Nishida and Royce

Nishida's philosophy is an exemplary case of the struggle for a synthesis of Western content and Oriental form. Nishida's view is particularly significant in this respect in that he was perhaps the first Japanese philosopher to import Western philosophy and to reinterpret it with freshness and force in the framework of Oriental thinking.

Herbert Spiegelberg has pointed out how Husserl was interested in Royce. There were many reasons for this, not least among which is Royce’s method of achieving philosophical certitude or truth. As can be seen in his Gifford Lectures, Royce arrived at truth through what might be called three reductions. What is the reductive method of Royce?
