RR Lyrae Variable Stars in the Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy Leo I

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2001
We report the discovery of a significant population of RR Lyrae variables in the dwarf spheroidal galaxy Leo I. Based on 40 V and 22 B images of the galaxy taken using the ESO Wide Field Imager we have identified so far 74 candidate RR Lyrae's in two CCD's hosting the main body of the galaxy.

Exploring RR Lyrae Variable Stars in the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Data Preview 1

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We investigate the properties of known RR Lyrae in the Vera C. Rubin Observatory Data Preview 1 (DP1) fields and compare those with the predictions based on stellar pulsation models tailored to the Legacy Survey of Space and Time filters.

Classification for 969 Double-mode RR Lyrae Stars from Zwicky Transient Facility

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
RR Lyrae (RRL) variable stars are cornerstone distance indicators. In particular, double-mode RR Lyrae (RRd) stars enable period–luminosity relations (PLRs) that are less sensitive to metallicity, reducing systematic biases in distance measurements ...

Photometric Metallicity and Distance Estimates for ∼70,000 RR Lyrae Stars from the Zwicky Transient Facility

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
Utilizing Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) data and existing RR Lyrae stars (RRLs) catalogs, this study achieves the first calibration of the P − ϕ _31 − R _21 − [Fe/H] and P − ϕ _31 − A _2 − A _1 − [Fe/H] relations in the ZTF photometric system for RRab ...

Stellar Variability and Distance Indicators in the Near-infrared in Nearby Galaxies. I. RR Lyrae and Anomalous Cepheids in Draco Dwarf Spheroidal

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
The Draco Dwarf spheroidal (dSph) galaxy is one of the nearest and the most dark-matter-dominated satellites of the Milky Way. We obtained multiepoch near-infrared (NIR, JHK _s ) observations of the central region of Draco dSph covering a sky area of ∼21′

Nonradial modes in RR Lyrae stars from the OGLE Collection of Variable Stars

open access: yes, 2016
The Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment (OGLE) is a great source of top-quality photometry of classical pulsators. Collection of variable stars from the fourth part of the project contains more than 38 000 RR Lyrae stars. These stars pulsate mostly in the radial fundamental mode (RRab), in radial first overtone (RRc) or in both modes ...

Stellar Pulsation and Evolution: A Combined Theoretical Renewal and Updated Models (SPECTRUM). I. Updating Radiative Opacities for Pulsation Models of Classical Cepheid and RR-Lyrae

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Pulsating stars are universally recognized as precise distance indicators and tracers of stellar populations. Their variability, combined with well-defined relationships between pulsation properties and intrinsic evolutionary parameters such as ...
