Asteroseismological Analysis of the Non-Blazhko RRab Star EPIC 248846335 in the LAMOST–Kepler/K2 Project

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We conduct an asteroseismological analysis on the non-Blazhko ab-type RR Lyrae star EPIC 248846335, employing the Radial Stellar Pulsations module of the Modules for Experiments in Stellar Astrophysics based on the set of stellar parameters.

Time-Series Photometry of Globular Clusters: M62 (NGC 6266), the Most RR Lyrae-Rich Globular Cluster in the Galaxy?

open access: yes, 2010
We present new time-series CCD photometry, in the B and V bands, for the moderately metal-rich ([Fe/H] ~ -1.3) Galactic globular cluster (GC) M62 (NGC 6266).

RR Lyrae Variable Stars in the Dwarf Spheroidal Galaxy Leo I

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2001
We report the discovery of a significant population of RR Lyrae variables in the dwarf spheroidal galaxy Leo I. Based on 40 V and 22 B images of the galaxy taken using the ESO Wide Field Imager we have identified so far 74 candidate RR Lyrae's in two CCD's hosting the main body of the galaxy.

Variable stars in the ultra-faint dwarf spheroidal galaxy Ursa Major I

open access: yes, 2013
We have performed the first study of the variable star population of Ursa Major I (UMa I), an ultra-faint dwarf satellite recently discovered around the Milky Way by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey.

Constraining RRc candidates using SDSS colours [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The light variations of first-overtone RR Lyrae stars and contact eclipsing binaries can be difficult to distinguish. The Catalina Periodic Variable Star catalog contains several misclassified objects, despite the classification efforts by Drake et al ...

Adding RR Lyrae y-Band Template Light Curves to gatspy

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We complement the y -band template light curves for RR Lyrae to the well-established template light curves in the ugriz-band, where the latter have been adopted in the astroML/gatspy python package as one of the period-search methods for RR Lyrae.

Horizontal Branch Stars: The Interplay between Observations and Theory, and Insights into the Formation of the Galaxy

open access: yes, 2009
We review HB stars in a broad astrophysical context, including both variable and non-variable stars. A reassessment of the Oosterhoff dichotomy is presented, which provides unprecedented detail regarding its origin and systematics.

Variable stars in galactic globular clusters

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
We present a comprehensive catalog of 2824 RR Lyrae stars (RRLs) residing in 115 Galactic globular clusters (GCs). Our catalog includes 1594 fundamental-mode (RRab), 824 first-overtone (RRc), and 28 double-mode (RRd) RRLs, as well as 378 RRLs of an unknown pulsation mode. We cross-matched 481 349 RRLs reported in the third Data Release (DR3) of the ESA

Benchmarking Differential Reddening in Front of Globular Clusters

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Interstellar extinction is a major obstacle in determining accurate stellar parameters from photometry near the Galactic disk. It is especially true for globular clusters at low galactic latitudes, which suffer from significant amounts of spatially ...
