Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Publisher Correction: Structure of the chloroplast ribosome with chl-RRF and hibernation-promoting factor [PDF]

open access: yesNature Plants, 2018
In the version of this Article originally published, the name of co-author Annemarie Perez Boerema was coded wrongly, resulting in it being incorrect when exported to citation databases. This has been corrected, though no visible changes will be apparent.

MINRbase: a comprehensive database of nuclear- and mitochondrial-ribosomal-RNA-derived fragments (rRFs)

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2023
Abstract We describe the Mitochondrial and Nuclear rRNA fragment database (MINRbase), a knowledge repository aimed at facilitating the study of ribosomal RNA-derived fragments (rRFs). MINRbase provides interactive access to the profiles of 130 238 expressed rRFs arising from the four human nuclear rRNAs (18S, 5.8S, 28S, 5S), two ...

Seismic Reflection Imaging of a Deep‐Penetrating Red River Fault in the Yinggehai Basin, Northwest of the South China Sea

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2023
The Yinggehai Basin (YB) in the northwest of the South China Sea (SCS) has preserved the complete evolution of the Red River Fault (RRF), whose motion over time has largely contributed to shaping the current tectonic framework of the southeastern Tibetan

EFFECT OF A RESTRICTED REACTION FIELD (RRF) ON ENZYMATIC REACTIONS [PDF]

open access: yesChemistry Letters, 1985
Abstract The effect of a restricted reaction field (RRF) on activities of cytosolic and microsomal aminopeptidase was investigated. Activity of cytosolic enzyme increased with decrease in the space width of the RRF, while activity of microsomal enzyme was found to be sensitive to the nature of the surface of the RRF.

Optimized Selenium‐Doped Nanocomposites for Enhanced Polymer Gel Performance in Permeability Reduction

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excessive water production in mature oil fields necessitates robust shut‐off treatments, yet conventional polymer gels often fail under high‐temperature and high‐salinity conditions. This study aims to enhance gel thermal stability and mechanical strength by incorporating selenium‐doped Ag/AgO–ZnO nanocomposites synthesized via a novel green ...

Cigarette Smoking and Chronic Kidney Disease in African Americans in the Jackson Heart Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
BackgroundControversy exists regarding the association of cigarette smoking and renal dysfunction, particularly among African Americans, who are disproportionately affected by chronic kidney disease; therefore, we evaluated the relationship between ...

RNAi efficiency in different tissues in rrf-1 mutants.

open access: yes, 2012
‘+’ and ‘−’ refer to the presence or absence of a phenotype in response to RNAi treatment in wild-type or rrf-1 animals. The rrf-1(pk1417), rrf-1(pk1417).4x (rrf-1(pk1417) four times outcrossed to WT(A) and rrf-1(ok589) mutants behaved similarly to RNAi ...

Association of Clonal Hematopoiesis With Incident, Late‐Onset, Seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Clonal hematopoiesis (CH), defined by acquired driver mutations in hematopoietic stem cells, is associated with many inflammatory diseases of aging. We investigated whether CH and its subtypes, CH of indeterminate potential (CHIP) and mosaic chromosomal alteration (mCA), are associated with incident rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and whether ...
