DIGITAL MAPPING OF SOIL SALINITY IN KAMPE-OMI IRRIGATION SCHEME
Soil salinity being a problem of irrigated agriculture reduces the productivity of agricultural land adversely. Detection of soil salinity by conventional means of soil survey requires a great deal of time, but remote sensing data and GIS techniques ...

Background: Vitamin D receptor (VDR) is a key nuclear receptor that is associated with the risk and progression of breast cancer (BC). Objectives: The present study investigated the Fok1, Bsm1, Taq1 and Cdx2 polymorphisms in the VDR gene and susceptibility to BC in a sample of Southeastern Iranian population.

An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Evaluation of Land Use Changes before and after Iraq and Iran's War (Case Study: Ilam Watershed) [PDF]
Having suitable information about land use changes is very important in planning and management of lands. Therefore, among the various methods to study these changes, satellite images, RS and GIS technologies were selected to detect these changes.

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.
