A BIDIRECTIONAL DIRECTLY MODULATED CABLE PON BASED ON A RSOA [PDF]
A bidirectional directly modulated cable passive optical network (PON) based on a re∞ective semiconductor optical amplifler (RSOA) as a colorless modulator in the optical network unit (ONU) is proposed and demonstrated. Good performances of downstream carrier-to-noise ratio (CNR)/composite second-order (CSO)/composite triple beat (CTB) and upstream bit

This paper demonstrates a 10 Gb/s one‐to‐two‐wavelength conversion configuration based on cross‐gain modulation for optical access networks using a single TW‐SOA. The method is capable of converting a signal data of specific wavelength 1541 nm to certain wavelengths of CW’s laser 1554 nm and 1558 nm with 4 nm spacing.

Amplified spontaneous emission pulses for high‐power supercontinuum generation
The authors demonstrate an incoherent light source based on a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as pump for high‐power supercontinuum generation for the first time. The obtained power level is about 160 mW and 20 dB spectral bandwidth is around 170 nm.

A heterogeneous III‐V/SiN platform for lasers at 800 nm is realized using the micro‐transfer printing method. Efficient GaAs gain sections are directly butt‐coupled to SiN waveguides, enabling continuous‐wave and mode‐locked extended‐cavity lasers. The mode‐locked lasers generate highly stable pulse trains with repetition rates up to 9.2 GHz and a ...

Improvement of modulation bandwidth in multisection RSOA for colorless WDM-PON
We demonstrated two-section reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) with dramatic improvement of small-signal modulation bandwidth above 10 GHz as colorless source for wavelength division multiplexed-passive optical network (WDM-PON). The device provides the fiber-to-fiber gain of 22.8 dB, 3-dB amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) bandwidth ...
