Demonstration of bidirectional wired and wireless services in integrated optical and wireless system carried by single wavelength lightwave [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
[[abstract]]We propose and demonstrate a novel RSOA-based WDM-PON architecture for converging Gb/s-NZR and 16QAM-OFDM ROF signals by employing wavelength reuse techniques.

Enhanced 10 Gb/s operations of directly modulated reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers without electronic equalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report enhanced 10 Gb/s operation of directly modulated bandwidth-limited reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers. By using a single suitable arrayed waveguide grating we achieve simultaneously WDM demultiplexing and optical equalization ...

Optical Channel Capacity Upgrade Based on Multiwavelength Conversion XGM Using Semiconductor Optical Amplifier for Access Networks

open access: yesInternational Journal of Optics, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
This paper demonstrates a 10 Gb/s one‐to‐two‐wavelength conversion configuration based on cross‐gain modulation for optical access networks using a single TW‐SOA. The method is capable of converting a signal data of specific wavelength 1541 nm to certain wavelengths of CW’s laser 1554 nm and 1558 nm with 4 nm spacing.

25-GHz-Spaced DWDM-PON With Mitigated Rayleigh Backscattering and Back-Reflection Effects

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
A novel 25-GHz-spaced dense wavelength-division multiplexing passive optical network (DWDM-PON) is proposed to improve the utilization of wavelength resource and mitigate the Rayleigh backscattering (RB) and back-reflection effects.

Simultaneous optical carrier and radio frequency re-modulation in radio-over-fiber systems employing reflective SOA modulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We demonstrate an innovative full-duplex radio-over-fibre transmission system employing a reflective SOA to perform simultaneous reusing of the optical carrier and data remodulation, thus avoiding the use of local radiofrequency oscillator at the station

Amplified spontaneous emission pulses for high‐power supercontinuum generation

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, Volume 2016, Issue 3, Page 29-31, March 2016., 2016
The authors demonstrate an incoherent light source based on a reflective semiconductor optical amplifier as pump for high‐power supercontinuum generation for the first time. The obtained power level is about 160 mW and 20 dB spectral bandwidth is around 170 nm.

Mathematical Verification for Transmission Performance of Centralized Lightwave WDM‐RoF‐PON with Quintuple Services Integrated in Each Wavelength Channel

open access: yesAdvances in OptoElectronics, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Wavelength‐division‐multiplexing passive‐optical‐network (WDM‐PON) has been recognized as a promising solution of the “last mile” access as well as multibroadband data services access for end users, and WDM‐RoF‐PON, which employs radio‐over‐fiber (RoF) technique in WDM‐PON, is even a more attractive approach for future broadband fiber and wireless ...

Embracing a new era of highly efficient and productive quantum Monte Carlo simulations

open access: yes, 2017
QMCPACK has enabled cutting-edge materials research on supercomputers for over a decade. It scales nearly ideally but has low single-node efficiency due to the physics-based abstractions using array-of-structures objects, causing inefficient ...
