Asymmetry of the Ferroelectric Phase Transition in BaTiO3
Phase transitions are typically assumed to behave identically in forward and reverse. This work shows that in the ferroelectric material barium titanate this is not true: heating drives an abrupt, first‐order jump, while cooling gives a smooth, continuous change.

Bronchiolitis in children ≤ 12 months during the pre-flu season of 2024: A case series
Background: In March 2024, the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) warned against a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) outbreak during the pre-flu season, 2024. Globally, RSV is responsible for most respiratory infections in young children.

Socioeconomic Impact of RSV Hospitalization
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) disease is a significant cause of morbidity and socioeconomic burden worldwide among young children. The majority of RSV-associated lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) and mortality occurs in developing countries ...

Using two‐photon polymerization of SU‐8 together with mold processing allowed the creation of defect‐free, flexible 3D microfluidic structures with sub‐micrometer precision in CYTOP. The fabricated CYTOP microfluidic chips enabled super‐resolution imaging of cancer cells in the microchannels, clearly visualizing previously undetectable fine structural ...

Potential for Nirsevimab use in Pakistan
Respiratory Tract Infections can be classified as upper and lower tract infections. Upper tract infections are more common such as laryngitis and pharyngitis, but the infections of lower respiratory tract are more fatal such as influenza or bronchitis ...

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is an RNA virus that belongs to the Pneumovirus genus of the Paramyxoviridae family. The aim of this study was to evaluate the expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthetase (iNOS), CD3 (pan T cells), and CD8 ...

ZNRD2 Mediated Nucleoprotein Aggregation Impairs Respiratory Syncytial Virus Replication
During RSV infection, nucleoprotein (N) forms RNA‐bound oligomers. The host protein ZNRD2 binds to these oligomers, promoting their transition into insoluble aggregates. These aggregates simultaneously sequester functional N to restrict viral production and disrupt chaperonin assembly quality control by interfering with ZNRD2's role as an adaptor ...

A proof of concept for structure-based vaccine design targeting RSV in humans
Building a better RSV vaccine Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) causes severe respiratory disease, especially in infants and the elderly. However, attempts to produce effective human vaccines have largely been unsuccessful.
