Exploring Genetic Diversity in Rubisco Activase
Via photosynthesis, plants are the most important point of entry for energy into the biosphere. The Calvin-Benson-Bassham cycle is the part of the photosynthetic process responsible for carbon assimilation, which is done by Rubisco. Rubisco activase (Rca) acts as an activator of Rubisco, removing inhibitory sugar phosphates.

Coordinate Expression of Rubisco Activase and Rubisco during Barley Leaf Cell Development [PDF]
We have utilized the cellular differentiation gradient and photomorphogenic responses of the first leaf of 7-day-old barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) to examine the accumulation of mRNA and protein encoded by the ribulose-1,5-biphosphate carboxylase holoenzyme (rubisco) activase gene (rca).

Two Residues of Rubisco Activase Involved in Recognition of the Rubisco Substrate [PDF]
Rubisco activase is an AAA(+) protein, a superfamily with members that use a "Sensor 2" domain for substrate recognition. To determine whether the analogous domain of activase is involved in recognition of ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco, EC 4.1.1.39), two chimeric activases were constructed, interchanging a Sensor 2-containing

Background The chloroplast-localized ribulose-1, 5-biphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco), the primary enzyme responsible for autotrophy, is instrumental in the continual adaptation of plants to variations in the concentrations of CO2.

Antisense RNA inhibition of Rubisco activase expression [PDF]
SummaryRibulose bisphosphate carboxylase (Rubisco) activase catalyzes the activation of Rubisco in vivo. Activase antisense DNA mutants of tobacco have been generated to explore the control that activase exerts on the photosynthetic process. These mutants have up to 90% reductions in activase protein levels as a consequence of an inhibition of activase

Widespread positive selection in the photosynthetic Rubisco enzyme
Background Rubisco enzyme catalyzes the first step in net photosynthetic CO2 assimilation and photorespiratory carbon oxidation and is responsible for almost all carbon fixation on Earth.

Molecular and physiological analysis of flag leaf senescence and remobilization of assimilates in bread wheat under terminal drought stress [PDF]
In the physiological study of stem remobilization of assimilates during grain filling, mutant genetic materials are a valuable tool. Two advanced mutant lines of bread wheat (T-67-60 and T-65-7-1) along with their wild type (Tabasi Cv.) were planted at ...
