Interacting effects of invasion and soil microbes on Douglas‐fir seedling response to drought

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 16, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Global change is affecting native species and communities through multiple anthropogenic drivers which likely interact, complicating our ability to predict the net effects of global change. In the Pacific Northwest region (USA), Cytisus scoparius (L.) Link (Scotch broom) invasion has dramatically altered many ecosystems, including postharvest ...

Taxonomy and nomenclature of Rubus ser. Glandulosi (Rosaceae) across its Eurasian range: Revised concepts and new approaches

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 74, Issue 5, Page 1106-1152, October 2025.
Abstract Rubus ser. Glandulosi is one of the most taxonomically intricate taxa of the genus, which is by itself considered a taxonomical nightmare. Around 46 species are currently recognised in the group, but most of its morphological diversity could not be classified at the species level until recently due to unclear reproductive patterns, high ...

Wild ungulates and salvage logging modulate disturbance effects on moth communities in spruce‐dominated forests

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 62, Issue 10, Page 2713-2727, October 2025.
In an area of massive forest disturbance, taxonomic and functional moth diversity currently benefit from a re‐opening of dense, dark forests. At a landscape scale, management should aim at diverse management strategies creating vegetation heterogeneity, that is, combining unlogged and salvage‐logged sites.
