Testing students' understanding of complex transfer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Courses on Machine Translation (MT) need to be tailored to different sets of students with differing skills and demands (Kenny & Way, 2001) Nevertheless, any contemporary course on MT ought to equip students with at least a superficial knowledge of the ...

A Simulative Evaluation of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Structures in the Context of Elastocaloric Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simulative evaluation of triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures for an elastocaloric application under compressive load is performed. For the evaluation of the structure's performance, surface/volume ratio, generated heat and invested mechanical work are taken into account and are compared to a tube as a reference specimen.

Comparative Study of Experimental Methods for Measuring Thermal Properties of 100Cr6 Steel Powders

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the thermal properties of 100Cr6 steel in both bulk and powder forms. Measuring the very low thermal conductivity typically exhibited by powders poses significant challenges. To address this, two novel measurement techniques—temperature gradient and finite laser pulse response—are introduced and evaluated by comparison with the ...

Comparison of Grammar Characteristics of Human-Written Corpora and Machine-Generated Texts Using a Novel Rule-Based Parser

open access: yesInformation
As the prevalence of machine-written texts grows, it has become increasingly important to distinguish between human- and machine-generated content, especially when such texts are not explicitly labeled.

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Using Synchronous TAG for Source-Side Reordering in SMT

open access: yesInternational Journal of Information and Communication Technology Research, 2013
Recent efforts in machine translation try to enrich statistical methods by syntactic information of source and target languages. In this paper we present a hybrid machine translator, which combines rule-based and statistical models in a serial manner ...
