Run-Time Profiling of Functional Logic Programs

2005
In this work, we introduce a profiling scheme for modern functional logic languages covering notions like laziness, sharing, and non-determinism. Firstly, we instrument a natural (big-step) semantics in order to associate a symbolic cost to each basic operation (e.g., variable updates, function unfoldings, case evaluations).

Profile measurement using projection of running fringes

Applied Optics, 1978
A method of profile control or measurement using projected fringes is presented. The fringes are dynamically translated over the object, and the phase of the signal picked up at a selected point on the surface is used to determine the depth or the depth error of the profile at this point.

On the Performance of Linear Profile Methodologies Under Runs Rules Schemes

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2014
There are many practical situations where product quality is function of two or more related quality characteristics that may establish a linear relationship in the form of a linear profile. In this study, we have investigated different methodologies based on simple and general linear profile datasets for paired observations using efficient runs rules ...

Skyscraper running: physiological and biomechanical profile of a novel sport activity

Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports, 2011
Skyscraper running is here analyzed in terms of mechanical and metabolic requirements, both at the general and at the individual level. Skyscraper runners' metabolic profile has been inferred from the total mechanical power estimated in 36 world records (48–421 m tall buildings), ranked by gender and age range.

Numerical Modeling of the Influence of the Beach Profile on Wave Run-Up

Journal of Waterway, Port, Coastal, and Ocean Engineering, 2013
An analysis of the run-up over different beach profiles is performed to evaluate the influence of the seabed shape on shore flooding. The analysis was carried out on the basis of numerical solutions of the nonlinear shallow water equations. The chosen solver wasshown to provide reliable (both quantitatively and qualitatively) run-up results by ...

Running gait biomechanics associated with hamstring and quadriceps strength profiles

Gait & Posture
To evaluate the relationships between quadriceps and hamstring strength profiles and running gait kinetics in healthy adult athletes.Cross-sectional.Hospital-affiliated injury prevention clinic.554 healthy adult runners (355 F, 199 M).Mass-normalized quadriceps and hamstring strength were obtained using hand-held dynamometry.

Profiling apache HIVE query from run time logs

2016 International Conference on Big Data and Smart Computing (BigComp), 2016
Apache Hive is a widely used data warehousing and analysis tool. Developers write SQL like HIVE queries, which are converted into MapReduce programs to runs on a cluster. Despite its popularity, there is little research on performance comparison and diagnose.

Estrogen Receptor Chromatin Profiling by CUT&RUN

Gonadal steroid hormones, namely, testosterone, progesterone, and estrogens, influence the physiological state of an organism through the regulation of gene transcription. Steroid hormones activate nuclear hormone receptor (HR), transcription factors (TFs), which bind DNA in a tissue- and cell type-specific manner to influence cellular function ...

Who Runs? A Demographic Profile of Runaway Youth in the United States

Journal of Adolescent Health, 2006
Prevention and treatment programs for runaways have been hindered by an inadequate population profile. Using Add Health data to determine 12-month prevalence and demographic predictors of running away, we found that over 6% of youths reported running away. Running was predicted by biological gender, age, region, urbanicity, and family structure.

An EDF run-time profile based on ravenscar

ACM SIGAda Ada Letters, 2013
This paper presents a definition of a Ravenscar-like profile (EDF Ravenscar) that incorporates EDF scheduling. Rather than just replace the dispatching policy, an argument is made for simplifying the support that is provided in full Ada for controlling access to protected objects.
