Seismic Radiation From Simple Models of Earthquakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We review some basic features of shear wave generation and energy balance for a 2D anti plane rupture. We first study the energy balance for a flat fault, and for a fault that contains a single localized kink.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Rupture Dynamics of the 2025 Mw 7.7 Myanmar Earthquake: A Bilateral Supershear Rupture on Unusually Long Fault Superhighway

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
The 2025 Mw 7.7 Myanmar earthquake ruptured the central Sagaing fault, a previously identified seismic gap with high seismic potential. Here, we perform hundreds of 3D dynamic rupture simulations to investigate the rupture dynamics, constrained by near ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Simulation of deformation and fracture processes in nanocomposites

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2019
The paper studies the processes of deformation and fracture in nanocomposites. The study was carried out by the method of mathematical modeling. The behavior of the nanosystem was described by the molecular dynamics apparatus.

Analysis of Stress in the Cohesive Zone, Dissipation and Fracture Energy During Shear Rupture Experiments

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
We analyze high resolution slip rate data obtained during dynamic shear rupture experiments by Berman et al. (2020), https://doi.org/10.1103/physrevlett.125.125503. We use an inverse method to extract the details of strength evolution within the cohesive

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Structural Controls on Splay Fault Rupture Dynamics During Cascadia Megathrust Earthquakes

open access: yesAGU Advances
Great subduction earthquakes (Mw ≥ 8.0) can generate devastating tsunamis by rapidly displacing the seafloor and overlying water column. These potentially tsunamigenic seafloor offsets result from coseismic fault slip and deformation beneath or within ...

Effects of blood hematocrit on cerebral aneurysm flow dynamics and rupture risk assessment: a computational study based on modified Carreau-Yasuda model

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Intra-aneurysmal flow dynamics significantly influence the pathophysiology of aneurysm growth and rupture. Blood viscosity is a key determinant of intra-aneurysmal flow dynamics, influenced by factors such as hematocrit, plasma protein, and fibrinogen ...
